Peace Portal Lodge
Peace Portal Lodge is a Residential Care Home that has become a landmark in White Rock for outstanding nursing care. Located centrally in the South Surrey/White Rock area, Peace Portal Lodge is nearby to local shopping malls, restaurants, doctors’ offices and the White Rock Pier.
Recently renovated, our home has a cozy, bright and airy atmosphere consisting of a main lounge and several intimate spaces throughout. To ensure home-like surroundings, rooms are tastefully decorated in soft colours with comfortable furnishings, each with 2 piece ensuite. Residents are encouraged to bring belongings and decorations to create an atmosphere that is familiar to them and to their families.
Residential Care (Skilled Nursing Care)
Residents are cared for by a highly trained, professional and caring staff, in a safe and secure environment. We accept residents requiring intermediate, extended, palliative, dementia and respite care. We have both funded and private pay facilities. Funded facilities must be applied for through Fraser Health.

Residential Care Entertainment and Recreation
Our trained Recreation Staff is dedicated to making time spent at Peace Portal quality time. We want our residents to be able to fill their days with worthwhile activities and entertainment to the best of their ability. We encourage the participation of family and friends. We also respect our residents’ rights to dignity and privacy when they wish it.
We take every opportunity to celebrate special occasions: – birthdays, holidays, special days, the seasons, and anything else that might be happening.
A few of our activities include:
- Games – bowling, bingo, cards and board games
- Exercise programs
- Weekly afternoon socials, complete with entertainment
- Special occasion celebrations
Marketing and Community Relations Consultant
Ellen has lived in White Rock for over 23 years. Her previous position took her to Vancouver Island where she worked in an Independent Living and Assisted Living Retirement Property.
Prior to this, Ellen had a position as Regional Manager of Eastern Canada and Western Canada for a Direct Sales Company specializing in safety products for Home & Bathing for seniors. She travelled across Canada, meeting seniors, listening to their stories, caring about their needs on a daily basis. From this she developed a passion for working with seniors.
Ellen has a strong belief that seniors need to be heard and respected. Currently Ellen is taking her CPCA course. (Certified Professional Consultant for Aging in Place).
Before coming to Peace Portal in July 2012, Sylvia started with working for Retirement Concepts at Dufferin Care Centre in October 2011 after 5.5 years as a Finance Manager at another Long Term Facility. Before that she was working for herself as a full charge bookkeeper and being a full time mom.
Sylvia finished her Accounting Diploma in 1997. Sylvia also helps us by interpreting Polish and Slavic languages including Ukrainian when residents struggle with English.
Sylvia enjoys the daily interactions with Care Staff, the busy days doing schedules and payroll. She also enjoys the daily interactions with Residents and their family members. She hopes to provide Residents and their family members with the assurance that they are treated with respect and are provided with the best care and attention that they deserve.
Debbie joined the PPL Recreation team in May 2010 and in November 2011 accepted the role as the Recreation Manager.
She is a graduate of Kwantlen College University and has been involved with seniors since the 1980’s where she was a volunteer Candy Striper at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
She currently lives in Cloverdale with her 11 year old son Nicky. She thoroughly enjoys here work at the lodge, the staff, family and residents make it a pleasure to come to work.
We strive to provide a variety of recreational opportunities to meet the complex needs of our residents, to help promote a positive, caring environment and a sense of wellbeing.
She has an “open door” policy and looks forward to meeting new people and spending time with family and residents.
