UPDATE ON COVID-19 – Sunday, April 5th, 2020

DUFFERIN CARE CENTRE

To all Family Members:

During this difficult time, the staff at Dufferin Care Center wish to express thanks to families of residents for their patience and understanding and hope you too are staying healthy.

Status Update

All residents are being monitored closely and their care needs are being met in the best manner possible.

At this time, all of the original 8 residents who were in contact with COVID-19, remain symptom free while three residents who recently tested positive remain in isolation.

We continue to monitor all residents closely and should any show symptoms, they are swabbed, placed in isolation out of an abundance of caution, and families are notified.

We are monitoring staff closely and following up with staff who are in self-isolation at home, on a daily basis.

Communication

We continue to communicate with all families via e-mail and place daily phone calls to family members of the three directly impacted residents. If there are any changes in other residents,  families will be updated immediately.

We continue to post daily updates on the Retirement Concepts Website and Facebook Page.

Lockdown at Dufferin Care Centre

The community remains on mandatory lockdown as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer.

We are following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s order to stop sharing staff between facilities.

Staffing

Today we are again staffed adequately in Care and Laundry departments. We are currently short staffed in Housekeeping and Recreation department. As you are all aware, we have become extremely short staffed in our Dietary department. Today was our first day of “outsourced” meals from Guildford Seniors Village, starting with breakfast. All went well and all dietary requirements are being met.

Supplies

We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Fraser Health.

Teamwork

Our staff continue to show tremendous dedication and commitment in caring for our residents. We want to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Guildford Seniors Village and to our Pandemic Response Team for supporting us during this challenging time.
