UPDATE ON COVID-19 – Sunday, APRIL 12TH, 2020

DUFFERIN CARE CENTRE

To all Family Members:

The Dufferin Care Center staff extend their appreciation to all family members and friends of residents for their patience, understanding and support during this challenging time.

Status Update

All residents continue to be monitored closely and their care needs are being met in the best manner possible.

The latest lab results confirm an additional resident has tested positive, which brings the total to seven.

The number of staff who have tested positive remains at six. It’s worth noting, two of the previously infected staff have now fully recovered and are back to work, while the remainder remain at home, in self isolation.

We continue to monitor our residents and should any be symptomatic, the resident is swabbed, placed in isolation as a precaution until lab result are known, and families are informed.

We continue to screen our staff upon entrance into our building, and midway through their shift.

Communication

We continue to communicate with all families via e-mail and place daily phone calls to family members of the six directly impacted residents. If there are any changes in other residents,  families are updated immediately. We also communicate with our affected staff on a daily basis.

Please refer to our daily updates on the Retirement Concepts Website and Facebook Page.

We remain in frequent communication with Fraser Health Authority representatives. Their support advice and direction is truly appreciated.

Lockdown at Dufferin Care Centre

The community remains on mandatory lockdown as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer.

We are following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s order to stop sharing staff between facilities.

Staffing

Today we are fully staffed in the CARE department but remain short staffed in Dietary and Recreation departments. There is no staff shortage in Laundry. Today is our sixth day of “outsourced” meals from Guildford Seniors Village. Everything is going well.

Supplies

We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Fraser Health.

Teamwork

We want to thank staff for the ongoing dedication to the job and the residents. We also want to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Guildford Seniors Village and to our Pandemic Response Team for supporting us during this challenging time.
