To all Family Members:
The Dufferin Care Center staff extend their appreciation to all family members and friends of residents for their patience, understanding and words of support during this challenging time.
On this holiday Easter weekend, a number of families have requested window visits. Unfortunately, we do not have adequate personnel to operate the gates to the backyard to facilitate visitors coming and going.
Status Update
All residents continue to be monitored closely and their care needs are being met in the best manner possible.
Unfortunately an additional resident has tested positive, bringing our total to six. In addition, one more RCA has tested positive, which brings our staff total to six, all of whom are home and in self-isolation.
We continue to monitor our residents and should any be symptomatic, the resident is swabbed. They are placed in isolation as a precaution until lab result are known, and families are informed.
Communication
We continue to communicate with all families via e-mail and will place daily phone calls to family members of the six directly impacted residents. If there are any changes in other residents, families will be updated immediately. We also communicate with our affected staff daily.
Please refer to our daily updates on the Retirement Concepts Website and Facebook Page.
We also are in frequent communication with Fraser Health Authority representatives. Their support advice and direction is truly appreciated.
Lockdown at Dufferin Care Centre
The community remains on mandatory lockdown as per the Order of the Medical Health Officer.
We are following Dr. Bonnie Henry’s order to stop sharing staff between facilities.
Staffing
Today we are short one RCA in the CARE department and remain short staffed in Kitchen, Housekeeping and Recreation departments, with no staff shortage in Laundry. Today is our sixth day of “outsourced” meals from Guildford Seniors Village. Everything is going well.
Supplies
We continue to monitor our supplies closely. We have received emergency supplies through our Corporate Procurement as well as Fraser Health.
Teamwork
Our staff continue to show tremendous dedication and commitment in caring for our residents. Easter wishes are extended to the staff at Guildford Seniors Village and to our Pandemic Response Team for supporting us during this challenging time.
