West Coast Seniors Housing Management has been informed that a case of COVID-19 has been confirmed involving a staff member at Dufferin Care Centre, in Coquitlam.
BC’s Medical Health Officer has been notified and the Dufferin Care Centre is following protocols established by the Office of the Provincial Health Officer and BC Center for Disease Control.
Dufferin is observing outbreak precautions and the Health Medical Health Officer is working closely with facility staff and medical staff to ensure appropriate infection controls are in place for the safety of residents and health care providers. All families impacted have and will be notified.
An internal emergency response team is monitoring this situation closely and will provide information on next steps or any subsequent changes in the situation.
We are treating the situation associated with COVID-19, very seriously. As such, we wish to reassure residents, their families and the public that we are following direction by health officials and have full infection prevention and control precautions in place.
As a precautionary measure we are continuing to restrict visits to all visitors, including family members, except for those that are essential in nature.
