Type of Care

Welcome to The Wellesley

We are a vibrant and active retirement community centrally located in Victoria, BC, near the Upper Harbour and the Royal Jubilee Hospital.

We offer large, bright suites in a variety of floor plans, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options. Unlike many other seniors communities, we also offer full kitchens, in-suite air conditioning, and large windows with stunning views of the surrounding area.

We offer a variety of senior housing and care options, including 40 publicly subsidized units and 24 private-pay units, serving both Independent Living residents and Assisted Living residents who need a little extra help.

Our mix of suite types, care levels, and funding options lets you compare fit, budget, and support needs all in one place.

Life at The Wellesley

We have an inner courtyard that’s often buzzing with activity, two rooftop patios, a Zen garden, and a lush, greenhouse-style garden lounge lobby. We also offer a spacious activity area with a full stage, sound, and lighting for entertainment, performances, and lively events. We also offer a 24-hour on-site guest suite for visits from friends or family.

Location

The truth is, you have plenty of options when considering retirement homes in Victoria. What sets our community apart is a convenient, central location, keeping you close to everything you need—without putting you in the middle of the downtown bustle.

Shopping centres, grocery stores, restaurants, banks, pharmacies and essential services are all just five minutes away, making everyday errands and outings simple. Residents can enjoy easy access to the city’s many amenities, then return to the comfort and familiarity of a welcoming residential community. For those comparing retirement homes in Victoria, it’s an ideal balance: connected to the city, close to everyday conveniences and comfortably removed from the noise of downtown.

Amenities

We’re proud to offer retirement community amenities that support an active, social and fulfilling lifestyle. Residents can enjoy a movie theatre, hair salon and fitness room, along with a full-size billiards table overlooking our inviting garden lounge.

Our full-service dining room serves a varied menu of homemade meals, complemented by local wines and other beverages. For relaxation, residents can spend time in our tranquil interior courtyard or take in the views from two beautiful rooftop gardens. Those who enjoy working with their hands will also appreciate our one-of-a-kind woodworking shop, fully equipped with everything needed to repair, build and create.

Compassionate-led care

Our primary goal is to provide residents with a very high quality of life in a safe, home-like environment. Our dedicated staff helps residents maintain their independence while providing the personalized care and support they need as they age. Our 24/7 emergency response system also ensures residents have access to nursing assistance when needed.

Safety & security

The safety and security of our residents is always a top priority. For example, all building entrances and exits have code or key access. We’ve also installed state-of-the-art security cameras in common areas, parking lots, and exits to protect residents from theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry. Our staff also conduct nightly on-site security checks for added peace of mind.

Accessibility & inclusivity

If you’re in the market for accessible retirement living, look no further than The Wellesley. We pride ourselves on being fully accessible, with an elevator on every floor. Many suites feature walk-in showers with grab bars to help keep residents safe. We are honoured to welcome residents from all faiths and cultures, and we offer weekly non-denominational religious services as well as opportunities for people of specific denominations to gather. If you’ve been looking at retirement homes in Victoria without success, we urge you to call us and book a tour today.

Independent Living

We offer spacious studio, one-, and two-bedroom Independent Living suites well-suited for seniors who need little to no assistance with everyday tasks and want to forgo the responsibility of yard or property maintenance. Our Independent Living programs offer active seniors the opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy outings and activities designed to challenge, inspire, and entertain. This allows seniors to enjoy a rich, vibrant, and fulfilling life in a comfortable and safe environment.

Assisted living

The Wellesley offers Assisted Living suites for those who can care for themselves but need a little extra help with day-to-day tasks. We welcome residents who use a cane, walker, or wheelchair, as long as they can reach a bed or chair without assistance. Our care partners can help you in your own suite and provide the support you need to make life easier. Offered through a third-party care team, this approach to care includes programs for mental and physical well-being. Services include medication management, dressing and undressing, bathing or showering, and general hygiene. Staff at The Wellesley also provide housekeeping, laundry, and meal services as needed.

Dining

The heart and soul of life at The Wellesley

At The Wellesley, dining brings residents together over fresh, flavourful food and good conversation. Executive Chef Connie Young-Davis—a local legend in her own right—and her talented culinary team prepare meals onsite each day, with a thoughtful balance of nutrition, choice and familiar favourites. Everything from breads and pastries to soups and desserts is made in-house. Dinner is included, with flexible meal packages available to suit individual preferences.

Dining also takes centre stage during seasonal barbecues and celebrations such as Christmas, Chinese New Year and St. Patrick’s Day. Menus are carefully planned to reflect a variety of tastes, while mealtimes offer a relaxed opportunity to connect with neighbours. Friends and family are always welcome to join residents for a delicious meal, adding to the warm sense of community that makes The Wellesley a distinctive retirement home in Victoria.
