Hello Everyone,                                                                                                                                June 3, 2020

We continue to appreciate all that you and your loved ones are doing to heed the precautions put in place to alleviate risk of exposure to COVID-19. We are relieved to tell you that there are no cases of reported outbreak nor signs nor symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents or staff here at Nanaimo Seniors’ Village.

There are no current changes to our no visitor policy.

We are in the process of seeking approval to reinstate our hairdresser at NSV.  We will keep everyone posted.

We are planning a BBQ for Residents this week. We will offer a BBQ hot dog or Hamburger. Residents will keep social distance and pick up their lunch. Residents can eat lunch in their room, patio area or cafeteria.

Communication

Due to social distancing orders we are encouraging family members and loved ones to connect with your family member via telephone call, or FACETIME or SKYPE.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls or if you want to write a letter or send a picture for us to print, please contact the recreation department in complex care by email at: nsvrecreation@retirementconcepts.com or call 250-760-2616.

For assisted and independent living, you can contact our Manager of Recreation Therapy, Tracey Leslie at tleslie@retirementconcepts.com or call 250-760-2316 and we would be happy to do that for you.

Recreation

We have been recruiting recreation staff and continue to move forward with re-instating small group programs (max of 5 participants) for our residential care residents by June 15th. Physical distancing is mandatory following the 2m (6 foot) to follow the MOH guidelines. Sanitization will continue to be priority for resident’s hands before/entry and after/exiting program areas as well as for chairs and any touch surfaces used for the program. Recreation will continue to schedule 1:1 visits with emphasis on skype and or facetime for family connections before and after these programs. This will be provided based on current staffing levels.

We have recruited a registered dietician for complex care and she started on June 2nd.

Warm wishes and a reminder to stay safe everyone,

From the Leadership Team at Nanaimo Senior’s Village
