In The #RCSpotlight Savouring Summertime Celebrations
We hope that you enjoyed your B.C. Day, staying cool in August sunshine.
Our Neighborhood Dining Rooms celebrated B.C. with locally sourced delicious home-made creations of:
Lunch Special Menu: Cream of Spinach Soup / Teriyaki Salmon Burger / Yam Fries & Coleslaw / Blueberry Pie
Dinner Special Menu: Wild Salmon Ocean-Wise / Mashed Potatoes & Gravy / Steamed Corn, Peas & Carrots / Cream Puff
Oh B.C farm-to-table makes summer dining delectable!
Have you noticed that summer, although hot & sunny, is taking its slight shift to shorter days & cooler evenings?
On B.C. Day the sunrise was at 5:47am, while sunset at 8:46pm – each day slightly shortening by minutes. Let’s make the most of summer – fresh air, fresh produce, and traditions of season such as ice cream.
July 19th saw GSV’s Anniversary of 19 years young, being built in 2001 – so it seemed only natural to celebrate with ice cream for everyone.
Remember to take time for what makes you happy.
Have you tried adult colouring books? Colouring is ageless, and calming with meditative benefits. Pair with your garden or hydration!
Aging Well Education Staying Hydrated & Healthy – It’s Our Specialty!
Did you know our seasonal menus are planned mindfully with consult with & approval from Dietitian Rob (as pictured), ensuring adequate nutritional & appropriate texture for safety, skin integrity and health benefits.
At each full service dining experience, we feature home cooked breakfast, lunch & dinner, and also enjoy delivering the GSV Snack Trolley afternoon & evenings to individuals in each Neighborhood, to ensure plenty of opportunity to replenish hydration. At each, we offer coffee, tea (decaf after 2pm), and 3 glasses of favourite juice options or water. Water is always encouraged but we have discovered ‘colour’ is important in certain generations and/or with some older adults. *note that protein-rich diets aids in enhancing skin integrity, and phytochemicals have anti-inflammatory benefits. In Guildford Seniors Village, we take time to nourish oneself. Regular dining also creates routine which contributes to overall wellness. #lifelonglearning
Warmest regards from All of Us in Guildford Seniors Village!
