A Message From General Manager

Dear Family;

I am so happy that we are finishing December and our community remained safe. Our leadership team, care staff and supportive services are working around the clock to ensure that each resident is safe and well cared for.

I am very grateful to be entrusted to work in this community, meeting each staff member and family member as they pass by in all walks of life.  In 2020 one aspect that our community has learned is to have more resilience, especially when times are difficult. We are pleased that vaccinations have commenced; we hope to make greater progress in 2021 & with positive changes.

I want to thank every one of you for the trust you have given to Guildford Seniors Village– Retirement Concepts. Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas and a wonderful week.

On behalf of all of us in Guildford Seniors Villagewe take a moment to review 2020, the challenges that we have overcome, the beauty in care and wellbeing that we create, and the collaboration that enhances community impact.

None would be possible without the passion, skill and devotion of the team, the multidisciplinary support & expertise of community partners & resources, and the support, patience and understanding of families & loved ones.

Special individuals who create a collaborative whole and ‘team’ second to none, all with passion for the care & creating of positive experiences for all seniors we serve and each mindful wellbeing.

Each is essential, and key in keeping each other healthy & safe in service.

Strict compliance measures to all protocols remain in Guildford Seniors Village, following the direction of our public health officials, including preventative & enhanced infection control, monitoring residents’ & staffs’ health closely, and visitor designations.

Deliveries: kindly press the button at the speaker (to your left) to inform our team if you’ve delivered an item in the lobby vestibule. Please label your delivery with resident name, and we will ensure sanitizing and delivery to loved one.  For resident safety, kindly refrain from passing items via windows as we must carefully sanitize all.  Thank you.

A Family Council provides families and friends of residents with a way to support one another as caregivers.  It’s a place to gather, share information, while being involved in helping to improve quality of life of the residents living within Guildford Seniors Village.

Thank you Craig & Alfredo from #CNIB for your wonderful presentations CNIB Assistive Technology Workshop as part of Aging Well Education Series in January & year round resources for the public.

Hats off to the wonderful Rebecca, Raina & team at #Surrey Hospice – we were honoured to sponsor the Surrey Hospice Forum in the new year.

It was an honour to deliver 100+ new socks & toques to Come Share Society’s seniors coffee social program at Chuck Bailey recreation centre & South Surrey centre.

It has been a privilege to continue hosting  #BCAlzheimers Caregivers Support Group & education workshops- kudos to Alison, Riten, Adrienne & the special team, and wonderful guests.

February saw our final open house in 2020, before global concerns initiated new strict infection control compliance, with our creation & inspirational Signature Paper Flower Making Workshop for family ambassadors and guests, showcasing Therapeutic Recreation.

We are grateful for Technology platforms to resume Family Council in the form of Zoom Meetings – respect to all of our family ambassadors and residents’ loved ones who share part of their day with us in collaboration, information share and support.  See you *virtually* in January!
