Guildford Seniors Village - Weekly Update - 17 December 2020

Hello Family Members & Guildford Seniors Village Community,

On behalf of everyone here in Guildford Seniors Village, we hope this communication finds you well.

A Message from General Manager, Camila

I am writing to provide today’s update on our Covid-19 exposure.

As we have communicated to you, one of our staff was contact traced for Covid-19 exposure. Upon notifying us, the employee was requested to have a Covid-19 test done and to self-isolate. The results confirmed the staff in question was positive for Covid-19.

We immediately informed Public Health and it was decided that GSV would not be declared on outbreak but rather be put on a “watch” mode.

We conducted contact tracing to see who had come in contact with this individual and those people were swabbed/tested for COVID-19. If your family member was traced, you would have received a phone call from us.

All residents’ results have returned as negative. We do have swabs outstanding and we will communicate those results to you when we receive them. We are still waiting on 3 Arbutus staff members’ results.

If your family member becomes symptomatic or requires testing, you will be contacted by phone.

Any general updates or information will be sent out in these emails.

Our focus is on each resident and the continued high level care and safety of our community at this time.

As per our in place protocols for this situation we have implemented the following:

- - Contain each unit and have designated staff in each neighborhood, including housekeeping.
  - Continue Daily education on PPE and hand hygiene
  - All food is being delivered in each resident’s room in a disposable container.
  - Isolated 8 residents who have been in close contact with the employee.
  - As per Public Health instructions, swabbed employees and residents in the affected neighborhood “Arbutus” second floor.
  - Stopped all in person visitations, excluding compassionate visit. If you have a gift for your family member, please ensure it is able to be sanitized and is in a bag clearly marked with their name and leave in the lobby.

All inquiries in regards to visitation, face time please e-mail the recreation department:

To Send A Message or Photos to Your Loved One: recreation-gsv@retirementconcepts.com and we will be pleased to deliver to your loved one.

(Also feel welcome to send mail via Canada Post- we do sanitize before delivery to resident)

If you are planning to deliver or drop off gifts, we kindly ask you to delivery early as possible or before December 22nd. We will sanitize parcel and deliver to your loved one.

Deliveries: kindly press the button at the speaker (to your left) to inform our team if you’ve delivered an item in the lobby vestibule. Please label your delivery with resident name, and we will ensure sanitizing and delivery to loved one. For resident safety, kindly refrain from passing items via windows as we must carefully sanitize all. Thank you

We focus on creating JOY within each Neighborhood with staffing cohorts. Santa has been visiting residents by Zoom, to each delight.

Christmas carols, community adorned with festive décor and recent special lunch with turkey, vegetarian lasagna and all the trimmings created holiday spirit for all in Guildford Seniors Village.

Dining

In extreme caution, we are delivering home cooked dining with room service including refreshments to all residents. Winter Menu is being enjoyed.

Don’t miss out on the benefits and credits to which you may be entitled.
