Guildford Seniors Village – Update May 6, 2020

We hope this message finds you healthy and safe.

At this time, we are pleased to be Outbreak Free. As per the April 30^th declaration by Public Health, we are continuing our team effort in following all Public Health issued protocols & compliance to remain as such.

We want to applaud the tremendous effort and commitment of our staff. They have shown and continue to show incredible teamwork and devotion in all departments, to our residents, and to each of you.

We wish to thank you the families for the outpouring of support. All of which has been shared with the entire GSV team. We want you to know how much we cherish your patience and kind messages.

We hope our Community Health Update Communications during this unique time have brought clarity and connection, and we look forward to providing continued bi-weekly updates every Wednesday and Saturday.

Protocols

We continue to follow the direction of our public health officials to the letter, and have full infection prevention and control precautions in place. Staff continue to monitor residents closely and are ensuring the following protocols are being adhered to:

• restricting ALL visitors from the premises
• ensuring no staff member is working in multiple facilities
• staff are working strictly within an assigned unit and not multiple units
• staff are removing outside clothing and footwear before entering the premises
• staff are screened for their temperature upon entrance to the building, and midway through their shift
• social distancing is occurring among residents in each facility, including during mealtimes
• appropriate application and removal of personal protective equipment (PPE), and the use of individual slings (cloth component of a personal lift).
• ensuring ongoing, environmental cleaning and increased frequency of high touch surfaces in order to break the chain of infection
• staff and residents are committed to regular/proper hand hygiene to break the chain of infection, by washing their hands with soap and water and applying hand sanitizer.

Dining Room

Our four Neighborhood Dining Rooms have been opened to residents with service of home cooked nourishment and hydration of breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as Snack Trolley room service afternoon and evenings.

Recreation

Social calls, Facetime & Skype visits continue to be arranged with families to residents through the support of our Recreation Team to the best of their ability with priority given to resident care. In anticipation of Mother’s Day,  we are planning a Tea & Treats Trolley visit to each, with gift of handmade fabric corsage; we welcome your thoughtful expressions through emailed messages, photos, flowers or cards.

We are excited to celebrate an outstanding 101^st Birthday milestone this week- and are humbly reminded that every day truly is a gift – to be enjoyed with gratitude, and with what is most important to you.
