To all Family Members and Friends of Dufferin Care Centre,

Please be advised that we currently have a Covid outbreak on the 1st floor. No outbreak on 2nd floor.

Visitation as per usual for 2nd floor but limited to “single designated and social visitor” to 1st floor.

There will be weekly updates going out to families by the General Manager.

Visitation Guidelines for 2nd floor residents:

• All residents will be allowed regular, frequent, and routine opportunities for social visitation
• The “single designated social visitor” restriction will be removed, allowing additional family and friends to visit
• Individuals 12 years or older visiting a LTC facility must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination status prior to entry.
• Visitors to LTC, 12 or older, must undergo rapid antigen testing at the site. Rapid antigen test must be done within 48-hours of visit.
• All visitors, including those fully vaccinated, are required to wear a medical mask when moving through and in common areas of the care home/residence and adhere to any preventative measures required to support visits. Masks are not required when fully vaccinated visitors are visiting in a single occupancy TLC room unit with the resident.
• Whenever possible, residents residing in shared rooms should receive visitors in a separate, designated location. Visitors must maintain physical distance from the other residents.
• Visitors are not allowed in the dining room. When assisting residents with meals, visitors will be directed to a designated location.

Protecting our communities and their loved ones is our top priority at Retirement concepts. The benefits of this social interaction are said to currently outweigh the risks of COVID-19 and we are thrilled to be able to see families together again. Please understand there are still risks associated with this and our guidelines and protocols are in place to do all we can to keep our community safe. Any non-compliance of the current requirements and guidelines may result in the visit being suspended. We ask families and friends to practice safety and caution in order to keep all of our residents and team members safe and healthy during this time.

Lastly, we encourage everyone to keep within the provincial guidelines in your daily lives. As restrictions ease, your loved ones safety is also in your hands. Performing hand hygiene, proper PPE, self-monitoring for symptoms and enhanced sanitization in your day to day is now more important than ever.
