To all Family Members:

Thank you to all of our Veterans at Dufferin Care Centre. We appreciate your hard work and sacrifice. Thank you for your military service. You are all brave and strong.

As the restrictions are changing, we will continue to follow the direction of Dr. Bonny Henry. Please note that all staff and visitors must wear medical masks when in resident care area.

We are continuing on with our Visitations. When booking your visits, please note of the differences between the types of visits we offer. Facetime is a virtual meeting through the Ipad; Window visits are a visit without masks in a window (family outside and resident inside); and In-Person visits are in a designated meeting area 6 feet apart with masks. There has been some confusion when booking, so please ensure you are booking the correct type of visit you would like.

We are offering scheduled visits to families 7 days a week. We offer Facetime, Window and In-Person. Please kindly send your request for an appointment to have a visit at dcc-familyvisits@retirementconcepts.com or by our new designated phone number if this is more convenient for you, the number is 604-472-4151. Please keep in mind Fran (screener) does scheduling for visits Monday-Friday 9 am- 4:30 pm.

Please kindly note, if you are dropping off food for your loved one, according to Fraser Health’s directive it must be non-perishable ONLY (must be consumed immediately, we cannot store any non-dried goods). Please ensure the non-perishable items have the name of the resident, room number and date it was packaged.

Dufferin Care Centre Covid-19 Trivia:

From last week’s trivia question, “What is a fomite?”

Last week’s question was “What other viruses belong to the coronavirus family?”

  1. SARS and influenza
  2. SARS and MERS
  3. SARS and HIV

The correct answer is B SARS and MERS. In addition to this new, or novel, coronavirus, there are at least six other coronaviruses that we currently know of, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Four of them are extremely common and generally cause only mild symptoms, like the ones you might experience if you had a cold.

This week’s question is a True or False: “A vaccine stimulates your immune system to produce antibodies, like it would if you were exposed to the virus”.
