White Rock Seniors Village 3rd Floor Residential Care remains a COVID 19 Outbreak Site as declared by Fraser Health Authority October 2nd:

Until further notice, all Site Visitations are cancelled including window visits as well as skype/facetime.

October 16 2020

Happy Friday!

Going into the weekend strong with no COVID and no staff or residents presenting with any symptoms!

We currently have no outstanding swabs.

While we have begun what is considered the “step down” process coming out of a declared COVID 19 outbreak, the mandated protocols will remain in place until the health authorities give us the all clear and the required quarantine time frame has passed.

When we know dates we will update everyone with these daily communications.

Thank you to all staff , residents and families for your outstanding calm, support and encouragement. It is appreciated daily!

As you are aware, West Coast Seniors Housing Management was informed on October 2, 2020, that a student on practicum at White Rock Seniors Village (WRSV) September 30 tested positive for COVID-19.  The student had contact with 3rd Floor Residential Care residents, as well as 1 staff member.

The staff member in contact with the student was tested, and result was negative.

Out of an abundance of caution, Fraser Health Authority (FHA) declared the 3rd Floor of Residential Care an Outbreak Site.  They directed us to isolate 3rd Floor Residential Care residents to their rooms, and to deliver their meals by tray service.  .

Fraser Health Authority also directed closure of the 2nd Floor Residential Care Dining Room.  The Independent Living Dining room and living areas at WRSV remain open.

We have had to pause visitations for all residents, including window visits.  This includes face time and skype, as the recreation team who would normally organize these electronic visits is assisting the care team to ensure residents receive everything they need.  We are hoping to be able to reinstate face time and skype calls in the near future.

Caring for our community is our top priority and our WRSV Team is dedicated to ensuring consistent, loving and supportive care at all times.

As we receive further guidance from Fraser Health Authority, we will communicate these directives to you.

We are in communication with them at least once a day.

We provide families with a Daily Email Update.  We have also phoned the families of residents,  Should the condition of any resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the screening door just north of the 1183 Maple Street Entrance.  This entrance is located between the 2 main entrances by our garden greenhouse.  Please restrict your deliveries to groceries, medications, and gifts.  No floral arrangements please.  All delivery items will be sanitized and delivered directly to resident suites.

When dropping off items, we would ask that families please follow the following guidelines, in order for your parents or loved ones to receive their deliveries in a timely manner.

  1. Please use plastic bags, not reusable bags;
  2. Please label all bags with resident name and room number; and
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items.

Teamwork

We wish to thank staff, residents and families for their anticipated cooperation and understanding.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to the family who provided our staff with a special pizza dinner on thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

The White Rock Seniors Village Leadership Team
