White Rock Seniors Village 3rd Floor Residential Care declared COVID 19 Outbreak Site by Fraser Health Authority on October 2nd:  All Site Visitations cancelled (including window visits)

 Hello Everyone:

As you know, West Coast Seniors Housing Management was informed on October 2, 2020, that a student on practicum at White Rock Seniors Village (WRSV) September 30 tested positive for COVID-19.  The student had contact with 3rd Floor Residential Care residents, as well as 1 staff member.  She still shows no symptoms.

The staff member in contact with the student has been tested, and result is negative.

Out of an abundance of caution, Fraser Health Authority (FHA) declared the 3rd Floor of Residential Care an Outbreak Site.

They directed us to isolate 3rd Floor Residential Care residents to their rooms, and to deliver their meals by tray service.

Fraser Health Authority also directed closure of the 2nd Floor Residential Care Dining Room.  The Independent Living Dining room and living areas at WRSV remain open.

Today, there is currently one pending swab for a resident with a slight fever who is otherwise asymptomatic.  As well as one pending swab for a staff member.

We continue to keep our guard up, and our protocols are strictly enforced.

We have paused visitations for all residents, including window visits. This includes face time and skype, as the recreation team who would normally facilitate these electronic visits is assisting the care team to ensure residents receive everything they need. We are hoping to be able to reinstate face time and skype calls in the near future.

Caring for our community is our top priority and our team is dedicated to ensuring consistent, loving and supportive care at all times.

As we receive further guidance from Fraser Health Authority, we will communicate these directives to you.

Please know that the care and safety of all residents is our number one priority, and we are treating the situation very seriously.

Communication

We will provide families with a Daily Email Update. Should the condition of any resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

If you have inquiries, please contact Jessica Obra at 604 365 3930 jobra@retirementconcepts.com or scussen@retirementconcepts.com

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the screening door just north of the 1183 Maple Street Entrance.  This entrance is located between the 2 main entrances by our garden greenhouse.  Please restrict your deliveries to groceries, medications, and gifts.  No floral arrangements please.  All delivery items will be sanitized and delivered directly to resident suites.

When dropping off items, we would ask that families please follow the following guidelines, in order for your parents or loved ones to receive their deliveries in a timely manner.

  1. Please use plastic bags, not reusable bags;
  2. Please label all bags with resident name and room number; and
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items.

Teamwork

We wish to thank staff, residents and families for their anticipated cooperation and understanding.

Sincerely,

The White Rock Seniors Village Leadership Team
