White Rock Seniors Village 3rd Floor Residential Care declared COVID 19 Outbreak Site by Fraser Health Authority: All Site Visitations cancelled (this includes window visits)

Hello Everyone:

There is one pending swab for a resident with a slight fever that is otherwise asymptomatic.

There are currently no further cases and no other Residents or staff are displaying any symptoms.

We are continuing to keep our guard up and protocols high to ensure this remains the case.

We have paused visitations for all residents. This includes face time and skype for now.

Presently, our recreation people are  helping the care team by working with them to ensure all of our residents receive everything they need. We are hoping to be able to reinstate face time and skype calls in the near future

Caring for our community is our top priority and our team is dedicated to ensuring consistent, loving and supportive care at all times.

West Coast Seniors Housing Management was informed late Friday afternoon October 2, 2020, that a student on practicum at White Rock Seniors Village (WRSV) September 30 has tested positive for COVID-19.

The student had contact with 3rd Floor Residential Care residents, as well as 1 staff member.  She currently shows no symptoms.

The staff member in contact with the student has been tested and result is negative. As stated, no WRSV staff or residents show any symptoms for COVID-19, but we continue to watch them carefully.

Out of an abundance of caution, Fraser Health Authority (FHA) declared the 3rd Floor of Residential Care an Outbreak Site.

They directed us to isolate 3rd Floor Residential Care residents in their rooms, and to deliver their meals by tray service.

Fraser Health Authority has also directed closure of the 2nd Floor Residential Care Dining Room.  The Independent Living Dining room and living areas at WRSV are unaffected.

As we receive further guidance from FHA, we will communicate these directives to you.

Please know that the care and safety of all residents is our number one priority, and we are treating the situation very seriously.

Communication

We will provide families with a Daily Email Update. Should the condition of any resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

If you have inquiries, please contact Jessica Obra at 604 365 3930 jobra@retirementconcepts.com or scussen@retirementconcepts.com

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the screening door just north of the 1183 Maple Street Entrance.  This entrance is located in between the 2 main entrances by our garden greenhouse. This includes groceries, medications, and gifts.  All will be sanitized and delivered directly to resident suites.

When dropping off items, we would ask that families please follow the following guidelines, as I am sure you want your parent or loved one to get their deliveries in a timely manner.

  1. Please use plastic bags, not reusable bags;
  2. Make sure to label all bags with resident name and room number; and
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items.

Teamwork

We wish to thank staff, residents and families for their anticipated cooperation and understanding.
