November 18, 2020

Dear Families of our Long term care residents.

21 of our residents on the third floor of our long term care building have tested positive for COVID-19. If your loved one has tested positive, you will have received a call from our RN and will be updated daily.

All residents of our second floor long term care have been tested and they are all negative

All staff that have been tested are also negative. We had testing here Wednesday Nov 18 for any staff that had not already been tested.

Following the direction of the Medical Health Officer and Fraser Health, the residents will remain in their rooms with dedicated care staff. Extra precautions continue to be in place for the entire community.

There are 16 staff members that tested positive and they will remain at home while they are ill. These staff members will be contacted regularly. We are working closely with Fraser Health to ensure appropriate staffing levels are in place during this time.

Please know that the care and safety of residents is our number one priority, and that we treat this situation very seriously.

We must sadly inform you that we have had five recent deaths at our facility. 3 of these residents were COVID positive.

The independent living side of our building remains COVID Free. However, as per The Provincial Health officer new restrictions, you cannot have friends or family to your household. There will also be no recreation activities for the period from Nov 7 to Nov 23 2020.

Essential visits continue to be allowed but must be booked in advance through our visitation coordinators as noted below.

Precautions continue to be in place for our IL residents including enhanced cleaning of all touchpoints, twice daily temperature checks and visitations are limited to essential.

Our residents all wear masks in common areas and socialize following safe distancing practices.

We are trusting that you and your families are following the Provincial Health Order in a cumulative effort to flatten the curve.

Communication

If you would like to send cards, letters, pictures photos and notes, we would be happy to deliver to your loved one. Hearing from family or friends right now would defiantly bring a smile and warm hearts.

We ask that you remain patient. We may not be able to answer your calls or emails right way as our staff are focused on the safe care of our residents

We encourage you to book a virtual visit (Face time or skype) or arrange a phone call to keep connected with your loved ones. We will do whatever we can to facilitate this as it is very important and meaningful to keep in touch

To book your visit, facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact our Visitation coordinators at our screening desk by calling 604-541-4663 ext 215 or emailing WRSV-familyvisits@retirementconcepts.com
