Dear family and friends of our Long term care residents at White Rock Seniors Village
We are pleased to announce the addition of several new staff positions to our Long Term Care Team. We will add another full-time nurse to our 3rd floor which will enable each of our nurses to have more involvement with the care of all residents on both floors. This allows us to increase their scope of responsibility so each of our nurses will become Champions of Care for specific clinical matters, such as wound care, falls prevention, quality assurance audits, etc.
We will also add 1 more full time days and 1 more-part time evening Registered Care Aides to our 3rd floor team. The nurses and care aides will be in place by mid to late July.
We have already hired 4 Health Care Support Workers who will work directly with residents for one to one visits, group activities and setting up FaceTime and Skye calls with families. These workers are also students who will enroll in the Care Aide program and will graduate as Registered Care Aides in about a year to 18 months. These workers will assist in housekeeping, meal service and facilitating family visits with residents.
We are delighted that the addition of these workers will greatly increase staff to resident ratio’s and lead to greater resident engagement, increased assistance with activities of daily living and enhance clinical support.
Please be advised that our weekly family updates will change to periodic updates as the guidelines from Fraser Health change. In addition, you will receive the monthly newsletter, and see the resurgence of the family council meetings. This will all be led by recreation starting next month. We are looking for family members to join our family council as we value your thoughts and opinions and would really appreciate your input. The value of family volunteers as part of our team can never be underestimated.
For Independent Living friends and family, we will update you also as changes come our way. We will send you the monthly newsletter to keep you in the loop of all the great things that are happening in our Independent living. Please feel free to recommend White Rock Seniors Village to friends and family as a wonderful place to call home. Our referral bonus program is a further incentive to share our community with seniors who would benefit from being here making new friends and sharing smiles.
Congratulations everyone for advancing into Phase 3! Let’s continue onto Phase 3 by remaining diligent and encouraging our friends and families to get vaccinated. All staff and visitors are required to wear masks when inside our building as an extra layer of protection.

At White Rock Seniors Village, and as a Campus of Care, we continue to follow existing safety plans as advised by Work Safe BC and Fraser health.
We ask that all staff, contractors and visitors continue to self-monitor for symptoms and not come in if they are ill or have been exposed to Covid-19 in your household or the community.
If in doubt call Public Health at 811 and go get tested. All visits would be postponed until after testing results come back negative.
