Dear Families of our Long term care residents.

Two of our residents on the third floor of our long term care building remain positive for COVID-19. If your loved one has tested positive, or if their condition changes, you will receive a call from our RN and will be updated daily

There are seven staff members currently COVID-19 positive. They will remain isolating at home until they are cleared by the health authorities to return to work.

We have a few remaining staff swabs that are pending and we will update you with those results when they become available.

We are working closely with Fraser Health, homecare agencies and our sister sites to ensure appropriate staffing levels are in place during this time.

We have had the exterior Christmas lights installed and are currently waiting on guidance from the Health Authority to determine how we can decorate inside while keeping everyone safe.

We are continually humbled by the amazing outpouring of compassion from our community

The patience, love, understanding and gratitude shown by our families is very much appreciated by our staff who are working tirelessly to keep everyone safe. Letters of encouragement are posted for the care team and spirits are strong.

These communications are also posted to our website each day after they are sent out to you. If you have other family or friends that want to be updated, please feel free to direct them to www.retirementconcepts.com

We understand the below information may seem repetitive, however we want to ensure we communicate daily and that our families have quick and easy access to this information should they need to contact us.

Following the direction of the Medical Health Officer and Fraser Health, the residents will remain in their rooms until this outbreak is declared over. Recreation is concentrating on one to one visits which is very important and meaningful at this time. Music, reading and sharing meaningful moment’s keep the residents connected and let them know how much they are loved especially when family contact is limited. Remember to book your phone call, face time or skype by following the guidelines as stated below.

Please know that the care and safety of residents is our number one priority, and that we treat this situation very seriously.

If you would like to send cards, letters, pictures photos and notes, we would be happy to deliver to your loved one. Hearing from family or friends right now would defiantly bring a smile and warm hearts.

We ask that you remain patient. We may not be able to answer your calls or emails right way as our staff are focused on the safe care of our residents

We encourage you to book a virtual visit (Face time or skype) or arrange a phone call to keep connected with your loved ones. We will do whatever we can to facilitate this with our recreation staff.

To book your visit, facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact our Visitation coordinators at our screening desk by calling 604-541-4663 ext 215 or emailing WRSV-familyvisits@retirementconcepts.com

All deliveries continue to be received at the screening door that is located just north of the Maple street Entrance.  . All items are sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

When dropping items off:  We ask families to please follow the guidelines below in order to ensure that your parent or loved one gets their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags;
  2. Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and room number; and
  3. Try to limit drop-offs to essential items.
  4. If sending food or drinks, please send single serve, disposable items. No homemade food or fruit. All items will need to be sanitized. Please do not send food that need to be refrigerated.

We wish to thank staff, residents and families for their cooperation and understanding as we move through this difficult period.
