December 20, 2020

Dear Families of our Long term care residents.

We are so pleased with the most recent announcement that our

Outbreak has been declared over!

Over the next 2 days we will celebrate and give thanks to our staff. We will start by serving a dinner of either Coho salmon or Vegetarian Entrée. Then we will personally deliver gift bags containing a gift card, pampering products and words of gratitude.

We are beginning to re-open following the step down process as laid out by Fraser Health.

Recreation: We will begin right away with the following activities:

Small group exercise (2-4 people)

Small group activities such as trivia, word games and listening to music

Meal service: We will start with 25% of residents eating in the dining room and will set the date for re-opening the main dining room for 3rd floor residents soon. In the meantime, tables and chairs are set up in lounges so residents can be out of their rooms socially distanced.

2nd floor residents will still stay on their floor and their dining room is open.

Visitation:

We will update you on dates as soon as possible.

Deliveries

All deliveries continue to be received at the screening door that is located just north of the Maple street Entrance.  . All items are sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites. If you want to have a delivery for Christmas, please drop off a few days before as we anticipate the staff will be busy with serving special dinners and sharing the Christmas Spirit.

When dropping items off:  We ask families to please follow the guidelines below in order to ensure that your parent or loved one gets their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags;
  2. Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and room number; and
  3. Try to limit drop-offs to essential items.
  4. If sending food or drinks, please send single serve, disposable items. No homemade food or fruit. All items will need to be sanitized. Please do not send food that need to be refrigerated.

Teamwork

We wish to thank staff, residents and families for their cooperation and understanding as we move through this phase of Outbreak Step Down.
