Dear Families of our Long term care residents.

We are humbled by the amazing outpouring of compassion from our community

There is a school, friend groups, and even local retailers collecting gifts, making cards (all of which will be sanitized) and coming to decorate our outside areas to share the warmth of Christmas in our community. This is truly a testament of goodwill in the most trying of times.

On site, there are no major changes in resident status today

Seven of our residents on the third floor of our long term care building remain positive for COVID-19. If your loved one has tested positive, you will have received a call from our RN and will be updated daily.

Following the direction of the Medical Health Officer and Fraser Health, the residents will remain in their rooms until this outbreak is declared over. Recreation is concentrating on one to one visits which is very important and meaningful at this time. Music, reading and sharing meaningful moment’s keep the residents connected and let them know how much they are loved especially when family contact is limited. Remember to book your phone call, face time or skype by following the guidelines as stated below.

There are six staff members that tested positive and they will remain at home while they are ill. These staff members will be contacted regularly. We are working closely with Fraser Health, homecare agencies and our sister sites to ensure appropriate staffing levels are in place during this time.

Thirteen of our dedicated staff have recovered and have returned to work and others are setting their return to work dates for the near future.

Please know that the care and safety of residents is our number one priority, and that we treat this situation very seriously.

Communication

If you would like to send cards, letters, pictures photos and notes, we would be happy to deliver to your loved one. Hearing from family or friends right now would defiantly bring a smile and warm hearts.

We ask that you remain patient. We may not be able to answer your calls or emails right way as our staff are focused on the safe care of our residents

We encourage you to book a virtual visit (Face time or skype) or arrange a phone call to keep connected with your loved ones. We will do whatever we can to facilitate this with our recreation staff.

To book your visit, facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact our Visitation coordinators at our screening desk by calling 604-541-4663 ext 215 or emailing WRSV-familyvisits@retirementconcepts.com
