Dear Independent Living Residents Families,

We hope you are all staying safe and healthy!

NO RESIDENTS are presenting COVID-19 signs or symptoms at White Rock Seniors Village. However, we recognize that this is an anxious time for you and your families, and we hope that by sending out bi-weekly updates, we can provide some reassurance to you on the care of your loved-one

Should the status of this community change in any respect, please know that we will immediately contact families.

Protocols

We are following the direction of our public health officials to the letter and have full infection prevention and control precautions in place. Staff continue to monitor residents closely and are ensuring the following protocols are being adhered to:

 Recreation Program

The Recreation staff are creating innovative activities while using social distancing practices. They are also encouraging residents to participate in daily puzzles and word games to keep resident minds sharp. Arts and crafts as well as gardening programs have also been highlighted. Again, please remind and motivate your loved ones to keep involved and to watch for new recreation ideas as they are introduced.

Dining Room

At White Rock Seniors Village, we have closed our dining room and are offering take out service.

The residents come at their regular mealtimes and return to their apartments to eat.

At this time, we feel it is important to keep the social distancing between staff and residents in another proactive attempt at limiting exposure. As always, if your loved one requires room service, we are delivering meals with appropriate safety measures in place.

If Required:

All deliveries will be received by the front desk staff. This includes groceries, medications, and gifts. All will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites. Simply press #200 at our front entrance keypad between the hours of 9:00 – 4:00 pm and one of our team will collect the delivery from you.

Dropping items off: We would ask that families please follow these guidelines as I am sure you want your parent or loved one to get their deliveries in a timely manner.

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags
  2. Make sure to label all bags with resident name and room number
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items. There are days when staff are overwhelmed trying to keep up
  4. Please sanitize, if possible, the items before dropping off.
  5. If you cannot deliver items to your loved ones or you live too far away, please contact us and we can put you in touch with one of our volunteer personal shoppers.

Reminders for your loved one to Stay Safe:

Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:

  1. Practice social distancing (6 feet apart)
  2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with soap and hot water) 20 second or greater is really important.
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing) please alert staff immediately.

 Thank You

We want to thank everyone for their cooperation and patience during this difficult period. Be safe, stay in touch and we will all get through this this together.

From the White Rock Seniors Village Team
