Stanford Seniors Village Community Update October 29, 2020

To Our Extended Family,

There continues to be no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents/tenants or staff here at Stanford Seniors Village, and for that we are very grateful. Should the status of our Community change in any respect, please know that we will immediately contact families.

The Month of Giving Thanks:

The month of giving thanks has been such a success it’s so lovely to see staff nominating their co-workers and thanking them for their hard work and thoughtfulness. And it’s been wonderful receiving nominations from our families and friends. There is just a few more days left in October, if you haven’t nominated a staff member and would like to please email Rachel at rtranberg@retirementconcepts.com.

A big thank you to everyone that has nominated a staff member your kind words have been shared and posted on our month of giving thanks board.

Social Visits:

We would like to thank those of you who have had a chance to visit loved ones, for following our protocols to help maintain everyone’s safety. These protocols are set forth by the health authorities and we must adhere to them or visitations can be cancelled.

Flu Clinic:

The Flu clinic was held on Wednesday October 28th and will also be held on Thursday October 29th. Families have been contacted to give verbal consent for their loved one. For tenants living in Independent Living and Assited Living the flu clinic will be held on Friday October 30th and Saturday October 31st.

Hairdressing:

Hurray! We are so excited to announce that Janet and Brenda have returned to the salon. To make an appointment for your loved one you can reach the salon at 250-951-0811 x 1137. Please be patient and allow some time for Janet to get back to you, as I am sure they will be overwhelmed with requests. Independent Living and Assited Living tenants will also be able to make appointments by calling the salon.

Recreation:

The recreation team are preparing activities to ensure residents can have fun, exercise and socialize with each other in our community. Arts and crafts, active games, brain games, table games and music programs are just some of the programs that we are enjoying. Please remind and motivate your loved ones to participate in these smaller group activities.

Dropping items off

All deliveries will be received at the front desk between 7:00am – 5:00pm. This includes groceries, medications, and gifts. All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

We would ask that families please follow these guidelines to ensure your parent or loved one to get their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags.
  2. Make sure to label all bags with resident’s full name and room number.
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items. There are days when staff are overwhelmed trying to keep up.
  4. Please sanitize, if possible, the items before dropping off. We will re-sanitize as well to be safe.

Reminders for your loved one to Stay Safe

Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:

  1. Practice social distancing (6 feet apart.)
  2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with the alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and hot water) 20 second or greater is so important.
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
  4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing). Please alert staff immediately.

A big thank you to everyone for working so hard to keep Stanford safe and healthy, as well as for the kindness, understanding and support that has been shown.

A little joke to help brighten the day!

What is a ghost’s favourite food?

Spook-etti!

Have a Happy Halloween

With Love,

The Stanford Seniors Village Team
