Stanford Seniors Village Community Update October 15, 2020

To Our Extended Family,

There continues to be no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents/tenants or staff here at Stanford Seniors Village, and for that we are very grateful. Should the status of our Community change in any respect, please know that we will immediately contact families.

The Month of Giving Thanks:

Giving recognition or thanks to someone who has gone above and beyond is an excellent way to show appreciation. This month we will be having a weekly raffle. Staff will be able to nominate their co-workers and thank them for their hard work which will also enter them into win a lovely gift basket. From all the nominations during the month, a final name will be drawn to win the grand prize. We have really amazing staff here at Stanford Seniors Village and we want to thank everyone for working so hard and caring so much.

If you have a staff member that you would like to give thanks to and enter them into win a gift basket please email Rachel at rtranberg@retirementconcepts.com.

Social Visits:

We would like to thank those of you who have had a chance to visit loved ones, for following our protocols to help maintain everyone’s safety. These protocols are set forth by the health authorities and we must adhere to them or visitations can be cancelled.

B.C Elections:

There will be voting at Stanford Seniors Village on Monday October 19th in the boardroom between 9:00am – 5:00pm. Long Term Care residents will be able to vote in the morning and Independent Living and Assisted Living Tenants will be able to vote in the afternoon. Elections BC staff will be facilitating the voting, they will be screened for signs and symptoms of illness prior to entering and we be asked to wear a medical grade mask and personal protective equipment.

Hairdressing:

Hurray! We are so excited to announce that Janet and Brenda have returned to the salon. To make an appointment for your loved one you can reach the salon at 250-951-0811 x 1137. Please be patient and allow some time for Janet to get back to you, as I am sure they will be overwhelmed with requests. Independent Living and Assited Living tenants will also be able to make appointments by calling the salon.

Recreation:

The recreation team are preparing activities to ensure residents can have fun, exercise and socialize with each other in our community. Arts and crafts, active games, brain games, table games and music programs are just some of the programs that we are enjoying. Please remind and motivate your loved ones to participate in these smaller group activities.

Dropping items off

All deliveries will be received at the front desk between 7:00am – 5:00pm. This includes groceries, medications, and gifts. All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

We would ask that families please follow these guidelines to ensure your parent or loved one to get their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags.
  2. Make sure to label all bags with resident’s full name and room number.
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items. There are days when staff are overwhelmed trying to keep up.
  4. Please sanitize, if possible, the items before dropping off. We will re-sanitize as well to be safe.

Reminders for your loved one to Stay Safe

Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:

  1. Practice social distancing (6 feet apart.)
  2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with the alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and hot water) 20 second or greater is so important.
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
  4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing). Please alert staff immediately.

A big thank you to everyone for working so hard to keep Stanford safe and healthy, as well as for the kindness, understanding and support that has been shown.

A little joke to help brighten the day!

What do you call a camel with no humps?

Humphrey!

With Love,

The Stanford Seniors Village Team
