Stanford Seniors Village Community Update, May 5 2020

Hello Everyone:

We hope you are all staying safe and healthy!

NO RESIDENTS are presenting COVID-19 signs or symptoms at Stanford Seniors Village. However, we recognize that this is an anxious time for you and your families, and we hope that by sending out these bi-weekly updates, we can provide some reassurance to you on the care of your loved-one

Should the status of this community change in any respect, please know that we will immediately contact families.

Mother’s Day:

This year Mother’s Day falls on Sunday May 10th and it is a day to celebrate and honour the mothers of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society.

Given this year’s unique circumstances, many of us are celebrating the holiday away from the women we love. But remember, Mother’s Day isn’t cancelled we just need to get creative in the ways we celebrate.

Some suggestions that may help you recognize your mother during this time of social distancing:

Floral arrangements, chocolates, care package full of her favourite teas, magazines etc., craft projects, a framed family photo, and stationary/cards with postage for your mother to send notes back to loved ones.

Items can be dropped off at the front door between 7:00am – 5:00pm. Please clearly label the package with your loved ones name and suite number.

On Sunday May 10th all mothers, grandmas, aunts and women will be receiving a balloon and a lovely piece of triple orange layer cake to show much they are loved and appreciated.

Courtyards:

The courtyards are looking so colourful with all the spring bulbs in bloom. Residents are getting outside to enjoy the fresh air and the sunny days. A big thank you to our wonderful resident Carol who worked so hard at planting the 200 plus tulip bulbs.

Independent Living and Assisted Living Dining Room:

The dining room still remains closed at this time. Last week we started trialing the hot cart delivery service to the resident doors. This system seems to be working really well and residents are enjoying their hot meals.

Activity Wagon:

We will be starting up an Activity Wagon this week. On the wagon residents will find a variety of crafts, word games, memory puzzles, magazines, stationary and cards and paint by number. Residents will be able to choose a craft of their choice. The Activity Wagon will be going around twice a week.

Reminders for your loved one to Stay Safe:

Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:

  1. Practice social distancing (6 feet apart)
  2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with the alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and hot water) 20 second or greater is so important.
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing) please alert staff immediately.

Thank You

A big thank you to everyone for working so hard to keep Stanford safe and healthy, as well as for the kindness, understanding and support you share.

With Love,

The Stanford Seniors Village Team
