Stanford Seniors Village Community Update August. 7th, 2020

To Our Extended Family,

Another sunny week has gone by to end out July and welcome August. The sunshine and warmth of the summer has been enjoyed by all as much as possible, as well as lifted spirits in these difficult times.

We want to say another big thank you to those who have had a chance to visit their loved ones for following our protocols and maintaining the safety of everyone. Residents and families alike have felt the difficulty surrounding the changes we have had to make and visits not being able to take place like before. Our staff have felt it too, kindness and care are put into the work our staff do and they feel the difficulties of our residents and do their best to comfort and ease. We here at Stanford really do appreciate to co-operation and understanding from everyone involved.

Just a heads up regarding the weather, if it is raining, we may not be able to accommodate your visit and you may be asked to rebook.

As a reminder:

To schedule a visit with your loved one in care please contact the Reception desk at 250-951-0811 x 0 between 9:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

For the Independent and Assisted Living residents please contact Mikhayla or Rachel at 250-951-0811 x 1101 or 1155 to schedule a visit.

Social visits will be limited to a single designated visitor per resident and must be booked in advance.

To ensure that all families get an opportunity to visit their loved ones, there will be no re-occurring on site visits booked at this time.

The visitation process, please note the key requirements:

We continue to encourage family members and other loved ones to connect with residents via telephone, FACETIME or SKYPE. To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact stanford-reception@retirementconcepts.com.

All deliveries will be received at the front desk between 7:00am – 5:00pm. This includes groceries, medications, and gifts. All will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

Dropping items off

We would ask that families please follow these guidelines to ensure your parent or loved one to get their deliveries in a timely manner.

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags
  2. Make sure to label all bags with resident full name and room number
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items. There are days when staff are overwhelmed trying to keep up
  4. Please sanitize, if possible, the items before dropping off. We will re-sanitize as well to be safe

Reminders for your loved one to Stay Safe

Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:

  1. Practice social distancing (6 feet apart)
  2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with the alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and hot water) 20 second or greater is so important.
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing) please alert staff immediately.

There continues to be no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents/tenants or staff here at Stanford Seniors Village and for that we are very grateful. Should the status of our community change in any respect, please know that we will immediately contact families.

A big thank you to everyone for working so hard to keep Stanford safe and healthy, as well as for the kindness, understanding and support there has been.

A little joke to help brighten the day!

“Did you hear about the claustrophobic astronaut?

He just needed some space.”

With Love,

The Stanford Seniors Village Team
