Stanford Senior Village Family Newsletter

To Our Extended Family

There continues to be no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents/tenants or staff here at Stanford Seniors Village, and for that we are very grateful. Should the status of our Community change in any respect, please know that we will immediately contact families. Please let reception know of any contact information changes.

Outdoor Fun and Games

Our Assisted Living tenants had a ball this week playing Bocce in the park next door. The weather held out just long enough for a few successful games and provoked quite a few laughs!

Social Visitation:

The new guidance surrounding social visitation in Assisted Living and Long Term Care has been going really well. We are so happy to see families and friends come together again. Its lovely to see many faces and lots of smiles.

Just a friendly reminder, when visiting please keep your mask on at all times during your visit for our resident’s protection. This means that visitor’s are asked not to eat in a loved ones room as doing so requires mask removal.

All social visits for both Long Term Care and Assisted Living still need to be booked in advance. To schedule a visit with your loved one please call 250-951-0811 ext: 1133 between 9:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Visitation Friendly Reminders:

If you are feeling unwell we ask you to please reschedule your visit.

All visitors will be screened for signs and symptoms of illness, including COVID-19, prior to every visit. We ask families and friends to self-screen prior to your scheduled visit for any signs or symptoms of illness.

Visitors must use a medical grade mask, and wear the mask for the duration of the visit and perform frequent hand hygiene.

Residents are allowed up to two visitors and one child under 18 per booked visit.

Only residents are allowed to eat during visits as masks must be kept on visitors at all times.

On arrival visitors will receive guidance on the visiting process, and we ask that you follow all the BCCDC and Health Authority guidelines.

Visits will be booked for 60 minutes segments.

Please limit your visit to one care facility per day to ensure limited cross contamination.

Visits will only be allowed if there are no active COVID- 19 outbreaks in our Community.

Recreation:

With these lovely sunny days we are ensuring residents are using the courtyards and enjoying the sunshine and everything in bloom. The recreation team are preparing activities to ensure residents can have fun, exercise and socialize with each other in our community. Arts and crafts, active games, brain games, table games and music programs are just some of the programs that we are enjoying.

Dropping Off Items:

All deliveries will be received at the front desk between 7:00am – 5:00pm. This includes groceries, medications, and gifts. All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

We would ask that families please follow these guidelines to ensure your parent or loved one to get their deliveries in a timely manner:

1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags.

2. Make sure to label all bags with resident’s full name and room number.

3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items. There are days when staff are overwhelmed trying to keep up.

4. Please sanitize, if possible, the items before dropping off. We will re-sanitize as well to be safe.

Reminders to Your Loved One to Stay Safe:

Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:

1. Practice social distancing (6 feet apart.)

2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with the alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and hot water) 20 second or greater is so important.

3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.

If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty

breathing). Please alert staff immediately.

4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty

breathing). Please alert staff immediately.

today is now more important than ever.

A big thank you to everyone for working so hard at keeping Stanford Seniors Village safe and healthy. We are grateful for the kindness, understanding and support that has been shown.

A little joke or two to help brighten the day!

Did you know that a slice of pie costs $2.50 in Jamaica

Did you also know that a slice of pie costs $3.25 in the Bahamas

Now you know the pie rates of the Caribbean.

What’s the best thing about Switzerland?

I don’t know but the flag is a big plus!
