Good Afternoon,

Selkirk Seniors Village remains COVID-19 Free! Please know that should the status of our community change in any respect, we will immediately inform all residents and tenant’s families or primary contact.

COVID VACCINE

The Covid-19 vaccine clinic will be held on site today Friday, May 07, from 09:30 am to approx. 3:30 pm. VIHA will send their nurses to administer the vaccine, the same as before. Having both doses of the vaccine will not change the visiting protocols or other guidelines. We follow the directions given to us by the MHO and VIHA.

MAINTENANCE

Spring has truly sprung and all our outside windows are in the process of being cleaned.  We live in such a beautiful city, and now we can see the views all that much better!

MANAGEMENT

We are thrilled to announce that Emma Gould, RN, has joined the team as our new Assistant Director of Care. Emma was a RN at Selkirk prior to being the successful applicant for the ADOC position. Emma was recently blessed with a beautiful baby boy, so Idil Abdullahi will be our acting ADOC while Emma is on maternity leave.  The Assistant Director of Care can be reached at local 1103.

RECREATION

Our recreation team celebrated Cinco de Mayo yesterday with various activities such as music, trivia, and special drinks. We are lucky to have had another courtyard concert with our recreation team member Jordan on violin. It is always such a joy to hear him play.

VISITATION

All social visits will be booked in advanced through our social visitation line 250-940-1028 ext. 1125 or via the social visitation email Selkirk-familyvisits@retirementconcepts.com . All visitors will be signed in and screened in the front lobby prior to seeing their loved one. When booking your visit, please ask about parking instructions and where to enter the building. Do not visit if you are feeling unwell, please call and reschedule your visit at ext. 1125.

The Recreation team are still facilitating FaceTime and Skype to the best of their abilities, while also completing their other duties. Thank You

Did you know that a good laugh can boost your dopamine levels? Shared laughter can help bring us together and feel connected- So I present a few of the best pun-demic jokes I could find- I hope it at least made you smile.

My husband purchased a world map and then gave me a dart and said, “Throw this and wherever it lands- that’s where I’m taking you we hen the pandemic ends.” Turns out we are spending 2 weeks behind the fridge.

My Mom always told me I wouldn’t accomplish anything by lying in bed all day. But look at me now, ma! I’m saving the world!

Quarantine has really put a damper on comedy. For months nobody has walked into a bar!
