Good Afternoon,

Selkirk Seniors Village remains COVID-19 Free! Please know that should the status of our community change in any respect, we will immediately inform all resident’s and tenant’s families or primary contact.

The COVID-19  second vaccine clinic will be on Thursday March 04th, and run the same as the first clinic with Island health sending in several nurses to administer the vaccine.

Recreation

Yesterday was Pink Shirt Day for Anti-Bullying.  It was awesome to see so many staff, residents, and tenants decked out in their pink gear. If you remember last week The Victoria Foundation shared their coloring contest entries with us, and the Recreation Team made a lovely display in the lobby.  They also had “Spread Some Love” cut out pieces of toast to write on to share kudos or positive messages to others. Thank you Recreation Team for all you do to keep Selkirk looking so festive and bright.

Visitations

All social visitation goes through the Visitation Team. You can contact them at 250-940-1028 local 1125.

If you are needing to cancel or rebook your visit, please give us as much notice as possible so we can try to fit someone else in that spot. Please send an email to Selkirk-familyvisits@retirementconcepts.com or via phone at local 1125. If families have questions regarding the visitations please contact Brian DelRay at local 1102, either he or another Selkirk Covid Committee member will contact you.

The Recreation team are facilitating FaceTime and Skype to the best of their abilities, while also completing their other duties. Please note that these are the only two platforms we are able to use.  Please reach out to Brian DelRaye-Recreation manager and his team by e-mail at bdelraye@retirementconcepts.com or Selkirk-recreation@retirementconcepts.com, or call to set up a schedule (Brian- 250-940-1028 x1102; Rec Office- 250-940-1028 x1120).  They will be happy to confirm a date and time to connect you with your loved-one.

Reminders for your loved one to Stay Safe:

Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding your loved one of the following:

  1. Practice social distancing (6 feet apart)
  2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds or greater with the alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and hot water). This is very important
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing) please inform staff immediately.

Thank You

A little chuckle for you today:

Has anyone else’s gardening skills improved during quarantine like mine have?

I planted myself on the couch at the beginning of March and I’ve grown significantly since!
