Hello Everyone!

There continues to be no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents/tenants or staff here at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village, and for that we are very grateful.

We cherish and celebrate a healthy community.  With flu season approaching, we are preparing for vaccinations for residents (as consented), and remain vigilant in infection control.

Please note that we continue to follow the direction of our provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, and our general NO VISITOR policy remains in place.

Recreation**BC Elections**

A HUGE thank you to our amazing Recreation team.  Our team has gone above & beyond working with elections BC to ensure all of our residents have a safe alternative to this upcoming election. The recreation team has already received the voting ballot packages for all of our residents.  Should you have received the voting card for your family member please discard it as the team here will be facilitating mail in voting for residents who are interested in participating and will assist if need be. If you have any questions, Jaylene, our Therapeutic Recreation Manager, would be happy to help, contact Jaylene at, jsmillie@retirementconcepts.com, or call her at 778-545-5000 ext. 1007

We will continue to offer scheduled video calls for those families who live out of town or are unable to come in for any reason.

Designated Visitor schedules are working smoothly in our designated meeting areas. There is no change in Mandate of number of visitors as per Health Authority – protocols remain as is:

Flu vaccinations

Remaining vigilant in infection control, and with flu season approaching, we are preparing for vaccinations for residents in Long Term Care.  Nurses will reach out to family decision makers for consents. Our Flu Vaccine Clinic is scheduled for Oct 28th.

For Independent/Assisted Living residents, the flu vaccination clinic will have a separate date, aiming for the beginning of November & residents will sign the consent themselves.

From Our Maintenance Team

To ensure our building safety, Bob, our Maintenance Manager, along with Fire and Safety was in the building recently to do the annual Service of the Fire Safety Equipment (all were properly pre-screened and adhered to all COVID safety protocols in place) which includes inspection of our sprinkler system, smoke detectors, & fire extinguishers etc.  They also accessed all residents’ suites to inspect the sprinklers & smoke detectors and no issues were identified.  Did you know we run 3 fire drills per month to ensure staff & residents are prepared?  As much as it may be annoying for our residents to hear the alarm bells going off, it is very important that we practice & be prepared.  We run fire drills with bells once a month during day & evening times, and a silent drill for the overnight team.

Hairdressing:

We are still anticipating that Rhonda will be returning and am hopeful she will be back & set up before end of next week. We will provide contact information on how to reach Rhonda to book appointments for your loved ones once we finalize her return date.

Gratitude

Thank you to many of our extended families for your words of inspiration during some tough times, & your thoughtful gestures.  We are thankful for your letters of gratitude and sweet & savory treats. We celebrated with our team and are delighted by your generosity.

As we all continually adapt to the world around us, we are humbled & comforted by the kindness expressed by resident families, our team and community outreach.

Special thank you to Greyhound Masters Track & Field Club for sharing their grant in donation of iPad for resident programs.  We are incredibly honored!

Deliveries/Drop-offs:

All deliveries will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.   Delivery times are below

Monday – Friday 10am-2pm, and Saturday 1-3pm only, closed to all Sunday deliveries:

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags.
  2. Make sure to label all bags with resident name and room number.  No heavy deliveries
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items – as we are inundated with drop-offs.

Please do not drop off items after hours, we do not have staff to be able to accept it and may be left outside until the designated time listed, if you do, you will be taking your chances & we will not be responsible for anything that is left after hours.

A big thank you to everyone for your hard work, grace and persistence!  Let’s keep up our strong stand against COVID by remembering to wear our masks, physically distance when possible and wash our hands frequently

Stay Safe, stay calm, & stay kind.

– Your team at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village (RHSV)
