Hi Everyone:

As the Province begins the process of starting to relax some of the COVID-19 restrictions, we want to express our thanks for the patience and understanding that you have shown during a difficult period.

But as all of you likely know, we need to continue to ensure a number of key protocols remain in place to limit potential exposure to COVID, to keep residents as safe as possible.

In spite of the fact that no residents or staff are presenting COVID-19 signs or symptoms, we are continuing to restrict all visitors out of an abundance of caution until we receive clear direction from the Health Authority to allow essential and non-essential visits into the community.

We appreciate that these restrictions can lead to increased loneliness and anxiety, and while we will continue to maintain social distancing, please know we are preparing activities to ensure residents can have fun, exercise, and socialize with each other safely in our community. Smaller group activities have already started and some of the categories will be exercises, active games, brain games, table games and music programs. Please remind and motivate your loved ones to participate in these smaller group activities.

We are encouraging family members and loved ones to connect with your family member via telephone call, or FACETIME or SKYPE. Please reach out to Jaylene, our Recreation Manager, by e-mail at jsmillie@retirementconcepts.com or call her at (778) 545-5000 ext 1007 to set up a schedule.

Exercise class has been well received. We are excited to say more social distancing programs have started. Residents will be required to sign up for these activities in advance with a max of 5 residents per group and will be pre-screened prior to the programs starting. Bingo, brain games, and small walking groups are some of the activities we are excited to introduce. Physical distancing and sanitization will be in place during all programs.

Of course, with the weather getting warmer, we are also ensuring residents are getting outside in the courtyards for some fresh air and exercise.

We continue to follow the direction of our public health officials to the letter and have full infection prevention and control precautions in place. Staff continue to monitor residents closely and are ensuring the following protocols are being adhered to.

Access to Rosemary Heights

Just a reminder to everyone that we remain on lockdown at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village. We continue to ask everyone to be respectful of this measure as it is for resident and staff safety. At NO time is visiting in our main door way or outside an option. Even if physical distancing and PPE is used. The Public Health Officer in BC is stating we still need to have these measures in place.

You will be asked to leave immediately if these precautionary measures are not followed. Thank you for your understanding and helping put your family members and our staff’s health and safety first.

Updates on Admissions and Transfers:

Admissions will be resumed following strict Ministry of Health guidelines and safety precautions (new admissions and residents returning from hospital will have isolation precautions with staff wearing PPE)

Hair Salon

The hair salon will remain closed until further notice.

Deliveries and Drop-offs:

Please ensure any deliveries for Fathers Day is dropped off before Saturday June 20 by 3:00 pm (Fathers Day is Sunday June 21)

Do not call your loved one to come to the door when you are dropping off items, and please ensure the deliveries you drop off are within easy lifting (a 5lb box is over the top for our staff to lift). We have one main entrance & the main doorway must be clear for people to safely drop off items.

All deliveries will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

Just a reminder dropping off items; Monday-Friday 10am-2pm, and Saturday 1-3pm only, closed to all Sunday deliveries:

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags.
  2. Make sure to label all bags with resident name and room number.  No heavy deliveries
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items – as we are inundated with drop-offs.
  4. Please sanitize, if possible, the items before dropping off. We will re-sanitize as well to be safe.

Reminders for your loved one to Stay Safe:

Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:

  1. Practice social distancing (6 feet apart)
  2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with the alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and hot water) 20 second or greater is so important.
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing) please alert staff immediately.

A big thank you to everyone for working so hard to keep us all safe and healthy, as well as for the kindness, understanding and support you share.

Stay Safe, stay calm, & stay kind,

– Your team at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village (RHSV)
