Hello families and friends of Rosemary Heights Seniors Village

We hope that everyone is continuing to stay safe and healthy! We are very pleased to share there are no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents or staff here at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village.  We continue to monitor all residents & staff daily for any symptoms. If your loved one is deemed symptomatic or tests positive, please know you will be contacted directly.

We have completed the testing/swabbing of all residents located on the 2nd floor and the results we have received thus far are all negative.  We are waiting for only 3 more residents results.  We are beyond thankful for this news!

We are still waiting for all staff member’s results and will share those results as we learn them.

We are still deemed as a low risk, and they are not declaring an official outbreak however we are on an enhanced monitoring outbreak until the morning of Dec 28th. We will be approaching the topic of upcoming Christmas with the MHO & PHN and will pray that they will lift our restrictions, however if they do not agree we will need to respect their decisions as they are thinking of our safety & the residents.

As some have been expressing concerns about this recent outbreak that may last over Christmas time, please know we are taking directive from the health authority and MHO, this is not our decision to do this, this is what we have to do to keep everyone safe.  Your feelings of disappointment & sadness are valid, and there are so many people that are missing family members: you, all of our residents, all of their families, all the staff & then of course all of the front line workers not just here at RHSV but across the world and the scarifies they are making.

Some have asked why can’t you bring in extra help to facilitate calls for these residents that are being quarantined? This is not about getting extra staff to help out, it’s about minimizing the risk of possible exposure to our residents.  We luckily have fantastic staff that are providing care selflessly, and are working long hours.  It is the directive of the MHO & PHN that we do not have in person visits or calls to this floor until they direct us otherwise.

If we could change this, I think I speak for every one that works here, we would, however this is what we need to do right now.

We remain currently with only one staff member that tested positive and they are home in isolation recovering with no symptoms.

We are continuing with our COVID outbreak protocols & enhanced cleaning and we have isolated 2nd floor Long term care residents under droplet precautions and meals being delivered to their rooms.

As far as we are aware, there was no contact with our independent living or assisted living floors. At this time, Independent and assisted living residents are still able to attend medical essential visits but no social visits permitted.  We will continue with in person visits for any one that has scheduled a visit, this is for Assisted living residents only.  If you are selecting to take your loved one that lives in Assisted Living for Christmas dinner, please note they will be quarantined for 14 days.   This could all change should any residents or staff become symptomatic.

Visits/Calls

Until further notice, if you have an in person family visit scheduled with your loved one that resides on Long term care 1st & 2nd floor, these are now cancelled until we get direction from the MHO and all group activities have been paused for 2nd floor. This includes facetime, zoom, and skype as staff work to ensure all isolated residents are monitored and cared for fully.

Communication

As a result of the one confirmed case of COVID-19, we will provide families with a daily email update that will also be posted under COVID 19 updates on our Corporate website. Should the condition of any resident change, their family will be notified by phone immediately.

Protocols

We are following protocols established by the Health Authority, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer and BC Center for Disease Control.

We will continue to act upon their latest advice, and will adapt our operations as necessary and recommended.
