Hi Everyone:

We hope you are all staying safe and healthy!

As the Province begins the process of starting to relax some of the COVID-19 restrictions, we want to express our thanks for the patience and understanding that you have shown during a difficult period. But as all of you likely know, we need to continue to ensure a number of key protocols remain in place to limit potential exposure to COVID, to keep residents as safe as possible.

I am relieved to tell you that there are no cases or symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents or staff here at Rosemary Heights Seniors’ Village.  We have been handling a number of residents on the Long term care side on 2nd floor that have GI symptoms, these residents have all been isolated, tested for COVID & results are all negative.  We remain diligent in our enhanced cleaning & sanitization even more & am hopeful we will be cleared of this GI outbreak by weeks’ end.

Should the status of Rosemary Heights Seniors Village change in any respect, please know that we will immediately contact families.

We also wanted to share we have partnered with local Colleges to help assist students entering into the Health Care industry fulfill their academic needs to graduate.  We currently have Care Aide students working alongside our staff on the Long term care learning from the best on how to provide care. All the students are wearing mandatory PPE, and are being pre-screened twice daily as is all of our staff.

Protocols

We continue to follow the direction of our public health officials to the letter, and have full infection prevention and control precautions in place. Staff continue to monitor residents closely and are ensuring the following protocols are being adhered to:

Recreation

We are encouraging family members and loved ones to connect with your family member via telephone call, or FACETIME or SKYPE. Please reach out to Jaylene, our Recreation Manager, by e-mail at jsmillie@retirementconcepts.com or call her at (778) 545-5000 ext 1007 to set up a schedule.

We are excited to announce the slow return of small group Recreation Activities in Assisted Living beginning in June. We are happy to be able to gather again, but there are some very stringent parameters that must be in place to ensure each tenant and staff member is safe.

Deliveries and Drop-offs:

Do not call your loved one to come to the door when you are dropping off items, please connect via scheduled appointments through recreation for Skype or FaceTime.   We have one main entrance & the main doorway must be clear for people to safely drop off items.

All deliveries will be received at the front entrance. This includes groceries, medications, gifts. All will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

Just a reminder dropping off items; Monday-Friday 10am-2pm, and Saturday 1-3pm only, closed to all Sunday deliveries:

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags.
  2. Make sure to label all bags with resident name and room number.
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items – as we are inundated with drop-offs.
  4. Please sanitize, if possible, the items before dropping off. We will re-sanitize as well to be safe.

Reminders for your loved one to Stay Safe:

Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:

  1. Practice social distancing (6 feet apart)
  2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with the alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and hot water) 20 second or greater is so important.
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing) please alert staff immediately.

Thank You

I want to applaud the tremendous effort and commitment of all our staff. They have shown and continue to show incredible teamwork and devotion in all departments, to our residents, and to each of you.  I am humbled to work alongside this group of extraordinary people.
