Hi Everyone:

We are happy to again report NO RESIDENTS or staff are presenting COVID-19 signs or symptoms at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village.

Should the status of Rosemary Heights Seniors Village change in any respect, please know that we will immediately contact families.

May 11-17 is Nurses week and we want to thank all of our Nurses for being part of our team at Rosemary Heights and serving our residents with pride and dignity in these trying and difficult times. Your efforts do not go unnoticed- we appreciate what you do beyond belief and you are very important to every one of us-THANK YOU!

Protocols

With the recent announcements from Dr. Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix we will be seeing some community changes over the next month, however there will be no immediate changes to any of our protocols at this time. We understand your eagerness to come and visit your loved ones but at this time our no visitor policy remains the same. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult period of time.

We are following the direction of our public health officials to the letter and have full infection prevention and control precautions in place. Staff continue to monitor residents closely and are ensuring the protocols are being adhered to, including restriction of ALL visitors, social distancing and sanitization procedures.

 Recreation:

Assisted Living/Independent Living

The patio is open for the tenants to enjoy the beautiful May weather. Only a number of chairs are on the patio and they are social distanced from one another.

On Residential Care, the Recreation staff are conducting one on one visits throughout the day and encouraging physical distancing practices. One on one visits consist of walks (inside & out if weather permits), courtyard walks, crafts, trivia, reading, personalized visits/chats which may include scheduled Skype chats, and some early gardening.

Recreation staff are also supplying the tenants and residents with self-directed activities such as Word Searches, Crosswords, coloring pages and books so they have activities to enjoy in their free time. Again, please remind and motivate your loved ones to participate in these different activities.

We are using FaceTime and Skype to connect families.  Please, we encourage you to sign up, if this is something you would like to do, please reach out to Jaylene, our Recreation Manager, by e-mail at jsmillie@retirementconcepts.com or call her at (778) 545-5000 ext 1007 to set up a schedule. She will be happy to confirm a date and time to connect you with your loved-one.

Deliveries and Drop-offs:

Do not call your loved one to come to the door when you are dropping off items, please connect via scheduled appointments through recreation for Skype or FaceTime.   We have one main entrance & the main doorway must be clear for people to safely drop off items.

When dropping off items for your loved one, please use a regular grocery sized bag. Please do not use large bags/totes, as these get too heavy for us to carry. Also, please do not tie bags together & ensure each bag it labelled with the resident’s name & room number.

Drop off times: Monday-Friday 10am-2pm,  Saturday 1-3pm only, closed to all Sunday deliveries:

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags or large totes.
  2. Make sure to label all bags with resident name and room number.
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items – as we are inundated with drop-offs.

Reminders for your loved one to Stay Safe:

Again, the following four points are so critical to discuss with your loved ones. Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:

  1. Practice social distancing (6 feet apart)
  2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with the alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and hot water) 20 second or greater is so important.
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing) please alert staff immediately.

Thank You

I’m still very hopeful that sticking to our implemented measures that we have minimized the risks to our residents and staff.

We want to thank everyone for their cooperation and patience during these ever changing circumstances.

Stay kind, stay calm, & stay safe!

The Rosemary Heights Seniors Village Team
