Family and friends of Peace Portal Seniors Village,

As we informed everyone, a student working on the second floor east wing, tested positive for COVID-19. The student was last on site May 16th  and tested positive May 18th.

We had contact traced those we knew had been around the student and 14 swabs were sent for testing.

All swabs have returned negative.

The next round of point prevalence testing will be on May 28th for the second floor east wing.

We continue to be on enhanced monitoring for the time being and will continue to follow our exposure protocols as below:

-Putting the second floor east wing on droplet precautions

-Cancelling all visitations for the second Floor east wing (west wing is open for visits)

-Switching to room service for meals for the second floor east wing

-Enhanced re-cleaning of all areas

-Enhanced monitoring of residents and staff for any symptoms

Currently no residents or staff are experiencing any symptoms.

All staff and students adhere to strict sanitization, handwashing, masking and screening policies and procedures while on site or working with any residents.

Communication

As is our protocol, in the event of any positive test, we provide families with a daily email update.  Should the condition of any specific resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact:  Sandra Kaethler skaethler@retirementconcepts.com

Protocols

BC’s Medical Health Officer has been notified, and the Peace Portal Seniors Village is following protocols established by Fraser Health Authority, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer, BC Center for Disease Control as well as our Emergency Response Team Corporate protocols.

We will continue to act upon the latest advice of BC’s Health Ministry and will adapt our operations as necessary and recommended.

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the lobby entrance vestibule.  This includes medication deliveries from pharmacies, floral arrangements, gifts and mail.  All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the residents’ suite.

Dropping items off

We would ask that families please follow these guidelines to ensure loved ones will receive their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags not reusable bags;
  2. Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and suite number;
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items; and
  4. If possible, please sanitize the items before dropping off.  We will re-sanitize as well to be safe

Acknowledgements

We wish to thank families and loved ones in advance for their patience and cooperation.

Thanks again to all of you for your continuing support of Peace Portal Seniors Village.
