Hello Friends and Family of Peace Portal Seniors Village Residents;

We currently have 8 positive cases of Covid-19 in our Peace Portal Seniors Village resident population.

We have 2 staff members who have tested positive as well, and they are isolating in their homes.

All staff and residents will be re-swabbed this weekend, and you will be updated on the outcome.

Until further notice, our dining room is closed and family visitations are cancelled, including window visits. As well, all group activities are paused.

We have reached out to Elections BC for mail-in ballots. We will be happy to provide these and any assistance for residents that wish to vote in the upcoming election.

We are also pleased to be hosting a special Thanksgiving Dinner for our residents, that will be delivered to their suites.

All residents of our Peace Portal Seniors Village Community have been placed in isolation in their respective rooms where they receive meals by tray service, and are monitored closely.  Staff have also been grouped into cohorts working on a specific floor, and not Facility-wide.

We have moved our Covid-19 positive residents to one wing of the Building, and there are dedicated caregivers for these Covid-19 positive residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, who do not work with other Covid-19 negative residents.

We educate each shift of our staff on hand hygiene and safety protocols, including those related to personal protective gear – putting it on, taking it off and performing job functions while wearing it.

Caring for our Peace Portal Seniors Village Community is our top priority, and our team is dedicated to ensuring consistent, loving and supportive care at all times.

At present, we are continuing to work with Fraser Heath Authority and follow their guidance and direction.

We have started a photo-wall and it is full of photographs of friends, family and staff displaying both thumbs up!  Please feel free to email us a photo where those photographed have both thumbs up.  The smiling faces will brighten everyone’s day!

If you have not received a phone call from us, then your loved one has tested negative for Covid-19.

If you have not received a phone call, but wish to speak with us directly, please let us know.

Communication

As is our protocol, in the event of any positive Covid-19 test result for a staff member or a resident, we will provide all the families of residents with a daily email update.  Should the condition of any specific resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact: Sandra Kaethlerskaethler@retirementconcepts.com. At this time, Face Time or virtual visits are not available for positive residents due to protocols that must be followed by Fraser Health.

Protocols

BC’s Medical Health Officer has been notified, and the Peace Portal Seniors Village is following protocols established by Fraser Health Authority, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer and the BC Center for Disease Control.

We will continue to act upon the latest advice of BC’s Health Ministry and will adapt our operations as necessary and recommended.

The Outbreak Period is being re-evaluated on a daily basis pending additional test results, and as we continue to take active measures against the spread.  We will advise families of a definitive Outbreak conclusion date once Fraser Health Authority informs us of it.

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the lobby entrance vestibule.  This includes medication deliveries from pharmacies, as well as gifts and mail.  All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to resident suites.

Dropping items off

We would ask that families please follow these guidelines to ensure your loved ones will receive their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags not reusable bags;
  2.          Please label all bags with the resident’s name and suite number;
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items; and
  4. If possible, please sanitize the items before dropping off.  We will re-sanitize as well to be safe.

Acknowledgements

 We wish to thank families and loved ones in advance for their patience and cooperation.

 Please join us in extending our sincere appreciation to the Peace Portal Seniors Village staff, who are dedicated to keeping your loved ones safe and in good spirits.

 Thanks again to all of you for your continuing support of Peace Portal Seniors Village.
