Family and friends of Peace Portal Seniors Village,

As we have informed you, a Staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee last worked on Thursday April 29th on both wings of the first floor .

The health Authorities have been contacted as well as our own Emergency Response Team and as such, we have been placed on Enhanced monitoring. This means we are not on outbreak but will be following heightened protocols.

As we proactively work towards ensuring everyone remains healthy , we have begun following our COVID-19 exposure precautions including the CDC protocols which include:

–Cancelling all visitations for first floor–

-Placing required first floor residents on isolation and droplet precaution

-Switching to room service for meals on first floor

-Enhanced re-cleaning of all areas

-Contact tracing information to supply to health authorities

-Swabbing of identified staff and residents

-Enhanced monitoring of residents and staff for any symptoms

-Low threshold testing – This means even the slightest deviation from any staff or residents norm, will result in being tested

-Cohorting first floor staff

Currently no residents or staff are experiencing any symptoms.

Communication

As is our protocol, in the event of any positive test, we provide families with a daily email update.  Should the condition of any specific resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact:  Sandra Kaethler skaethler@retirementconcepts.com

Protocols

BC’s Medical Health Officer has been notified, and the Peace Portal Seniors Village is following protocols established by Fraser Health Authority, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer, BC Center for Disease Control as well as our Emergency Response Team Corporate protocols.

We will continue to act upon the latest advice of BC’s Health Ministry and will adapt our operations as necessary and recommended.

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the lobby entrance vestibule.  This includes medication deliveries from pharmacies, floral arrangements, gifts and mail.  All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the residents’ suite.

Dropping items off

We would ask that families please follow these guidelines to ensure loved ones will receive their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags not reusable bags;
  2. Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and suite number;
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items; and
  4. If possible, please sanitize the items before dropping off.  We will re-sanitize as well to be safe

Acknowledgements

We wish to thank families and loved ones in advance for their patience and cooperation.

Thanks again to all of you for your continuing support of Peace Portal Seniors Village.
