Peace Portal Seniors Village  –  FAMILY UPDATE  –  Saturday March 20, 2021

Family and friends of Peace Portal Seniors Village,

We know the communication below may seem repetitive however we want to ensure all our families are kept up to date and have the latest information at all times.

The results from Fridays round of point prevalence testing has returned and we are pleased to say that all the test results of staff and residents came back negative. The site is COVID-19 free at this time.

We continue to act on our company protocols for COVID-19 as well as those of the Health Authorities at this time until they have given us the all clear to resume our normal activities. As soon as we have information on any changes, we will update everyone in these emails.

As we informed you last week, one of our Staff members tested positive for COVID-19 after they had been contact traced from an external source. As such, we have been placed on enhanced monitoring, which means no outbreak has been declared, we are just being monitored for any possible exposure.

Fraser Health Authority completed 2 rounds of point prevalence testing for the 1 West Unit and All tests have come back negative for COVID-19.

As we proactively work towards ensuring everyone remains healthy, we will have to pause all visitation and group activities for all first floor residents.

All residents from our first floor West side have been placed in isolation where they receive meals by tray service, and are monitored closely.

As an organization we have been well prepared to handle the COVID-19 situation and are confident in all of the processes we have in place to keep your loved one safe and comfortable thru this time.

Communication

 As is our protocol, in the event of any positive test, we will continue to provide families with a daily email update.  Should the condition of any specific resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact: Sandra Kaethler skaethler@retirementconcepts.com

Protocols

BC’s Medical Health Officer has been notified, and the Peace Portal Seniors Village is following protocols established by Fraser Health Authority, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer and the BC Center for Disease Control.

We will continue to act upon the latest advice of BC’s Health Ministry and will adapt our operations as necessary and recommended.

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the lobby entrance vestibule.  This includes medication deliveries from pharmacies, floral arrangements, gifts and mail.  All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the residents’ suite.

Dropping items off

We would ask that families please follow these guidelines to ensure loved ones will receive their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags not reusable bags;
  2. Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and suite number;
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items; and
  4. If possible, please sanitize the items before dropping off.  We will re-sanitize as well to be safe

Acknowledgements

We wish to thank families and loved ones in advance for their patience and cooperation.

Thanks again to all of you for your continuing support of Peace Portal Seniors Village.

Kindest regards,
