Good evening Family and Friends of Peace Portal Seniors Village,

We are pleased to inform you that there are no current cases of COVID-19 in our residents or staff here at Peace Portal Seniors Village.

We are so thankful to each and every one of you. Your support has been tremendous as we make the necessary changes to alleviate the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

Facility staff will continue to screen residents and staff for symptoms twice per day and to apply standard infection prevention measures to help protect our residents and staff.

Communication

We will continue to communicate with all families via email on a daily basis and update any new cases should they occur. In the event of a positive Covid-19 test result for a resident, we will contact the family directly. The daily email update is also posted under “Retirement Concepts Covid-19 Updates” on our Website.

Should the condition of any specific resident changes, their family and loved ones will be notified immediately.

Residents will be able to visit with one designated family member or friend in designated spaces as per facility safety plan. This step is to help keep residents and staff/physicians safe from transmission of COVID-19.

To inquire about visits, facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact: 604-542-8265Sandra Kaethler at skaethler@retirementconcepts.com.

Protocols

Peace Portal Seniors Village is following protocols established by the Office of the Provincial Health Officer and the BC Center for Disease Control.  We will continue to act upon the latest advice of BC’s Health Ministry, and will adapt our operations as necessary and as recommended.

Deliveries Monday – Sunday :10am – 2pm

All deliveries will be received at the lobby entrance vestibule.  This includes medication deliveries from pharmacy, gifts and mail.  All items will be held in isolation for 24 hours, sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suite.

When dropping items off, we ask that families please follow the following guidelines to ensure their loved ones will receive their deliveries in a timely manner.

  1.    Please use plastic bags, not reusable bags
  2.    Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and suite number.
  3.    Try to limit drop offs to essential items for infection control and in consideration of staff to resident care priorities.
  4.    Please sanitize the items before dropping off. if that is possible.  We will re-sanitize as well to be safe.

We will continue with our already established stringent safety protocols.

For general information about COVID-19, call 811, or visit HealthLinkBC: https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/health-feature/coronavirus-covid-19.

We wish to thank the families who continue to send us positive, thoughtful and kind words of encouragement. We also wish to acknowledge our entire leadership and front-line team for their untiring efforts and support to ensure the safety of your loved ones.
