Good evening Family and Friends of Peace Portal Seniors Village,

We are happy to inform you that all our residents and staff results were negative for COVID-19.

We would like to thank our families for their kind words and patience, it has made all the difference to staff and residents alike.

While we are cleared of active cases in the building, we are still under strict outbreak precautions to ensure no new cases arise.

We have moved into the step down phase of an outbreak. The step down phase doesn’t mean our outbreak is over, it means that Fraser Health Authority and the community will be moving forward with implementing day to day operations very slowly and can only remove the droplet precautions for now. That means that staff no longer need to don P.P.E. gowns, but must still wear masks, safety eye goggles and gloves when providing care.

Residents will continue to isolate in their suites for another 14 days as per Fraser Health directions, as long as there are no more symptomatic residents and until the outbreak is officially declared over by Fraser Health Authority.

Communication

We will continue to communicate with all families via email on a daily basis and update any new cases should they occur. In the event of a positive Covid-19 test result for a resident, we will contact the family directly.

The daily email update is also posted under “Retirement Concepts Covid-19 Updates” on our Website.

Should the condition of any specific resident changes, their family and loved ones will be notified immediately.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact: Sandra Kaethler at skaethler@retirementconcepts.com. At this time, we will only be able to offer virtual visits on the 2nd floor until Fraser Health can advise us of what protocols can be in place for 1st floor.

Protocols

Peace Portal Seniors Village is following protocols established by the Office of the Provincial Health Officer and the BC Center for Disease Control.  We will continue to act upon the latest advice of BC’s Health Ministry, and will adapt our operations as necessary and as recommended.

Deliveries Monday – Sunday from 10am to 2pm

All deliveries will be received at the lobby entrance vestibule.  This includes medication deliveries from pharmacy, gifts and mail.  All items will be held in isolation for 24 hours, sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suite.

When dropping items off, we ask that families please follow the following guidelines to ensure their loved ones will receive their deliveries in a timely manner.

  1.    Please use plastic bags, not reusable bags
  2.    Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and suite number.
  3.    Try to limit drop offs to essential items for infection control and in consideration of staff to resident care priorities.
  4.    Please sanitize the items before dropping off. if that is possible.  We will re-sanitize as well to be safe.
  5. We know that this is a stressful time, and would like to ensure that we keep everyone healthy. As a result, we will continue with our already established stringent safety protocols.

We wish to thank the families who continue to send us positive, thoughtful and kind words of encouragement. Thank you in advance for your anticipated patience and understanding. We also wish to acknowledge our entire leadership and front-line team for their untiring efforts and support to ensure the safety of your loved ones. If you have any further questions or inquiries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to either myself or Naomi Agbebaku, Director of Care Lead at nagbebaku@wcshm.com

Wishing each of you continued safety and excellent health.

The Peace Portal Seniors Village Team.
