Hello Everyone:

We hope you are all staying safe and healthy!

NO RESIDENTS are presenting COVID-19 signs or symptoms at Monterey Seniors Village. However, we recognize that this is an anxious time for you and your families, and we hope that by continuing to send out updates, we can provide some reassurance to you on the care of your loved-one.

Updated Visitation Guidelines – NEW UPDATES AS OF JUNE 7 –

As we continue to follow all public health measures, we want to take the time to update everyone on the visitation guidelines –

The following protocol changes took effect June 7, 2021:

  1. No limit to the number of times a designated family/support person(s) can book a visit, space permitting.
  2. Visits in resident rooms and the indoor designated visitation area (the lobby area next to the reception) for up to four at the same time excluding the resident for a total of five people are now permitted.
  3. All children are allowed, but those under 14 years of age must be accompanied.
  4. Up to ten people (including resident) are permitted for any outdoor social visits. There are two bookable designated outdoor visitation areas – the outside tables to the left of the main entrance and the Gazebo.
  5. All other protocols remain in place.

Visitation Process and Protocols

Visiting hours at Monterey Seniors Village are between 8:00 am–8:00 pm daily, seven (7) days per week.

All visits can be reserved by calling Monterey reception at least 12-hours prior, at 403-207-2929 to book your visit.  Unfortunately we cannot accept walk-ins unless it is of an urgent nature.

A reservation is not required if you would like to take your loved one offsite for an appointment or other essential reason.  Please be aware that all protocols are still in effect when offsite such as full screening, social distancing, continuous masking, not touching your face and hand hygiene.

We also continue to offer scheduled virtual visits. Please contact our recreation department at montereylifestyles@retirementconcepts.com or 403-568-3105 to book an appointment.

Community Update

June Recreation – In honour of Father’s Day this month we will be providing some extra tender loving care to all our gentleman. On Father’s Day Sunday June 20th we will be serving a special lunch including Steak, Baked potato, mixed veggies and dessert.  Our Recreation Team has been providing 1:1 visits with our men these past few months. Our goal in establishing a good relationship and rapport is to then encourage attending our weekly Men’s Group. This group will be exploring a variety of card and board games, trying out some handy work projects, enjoying a cold beer while reminiscing, testing the minds with some trivia, going out on a Scenic Tour and playing a little Travel Bingo.  We are asking for families’ support in collecting any Men’s games or equipment to be used in this program. We are looking for: woodwork projects, tools & equipment, items to sort such as nails, bolts, screws, gardening items, books or old calendars with vivid photographs, work memorably awards, uniform, badges; etc.

Please contact Doris, the Therapeutic Recreation Manager, at (403) 568 -3105 or email: dkruger@retirementconcepts.com if you have some items we could loan us or you would like to donate to our department.

All of our patios are open and available. We are also continuing to take advantage of the pleasant weather with our outside walking program. Stay tuned for our BBQ lunch to be announced this month also!

Monterey Lost and Found

There are many items in the Lost and Found located at the main reception. Please note that we will be donating these items from the Lost & Found to a local charity on June 30, 2021. We politely ask that you stop by the reception to see if any of the items may belong to you or your loved one. We will also be going room to room at the beginning of June to see if residents may recognize some personal items.

Protocols

We continue to ensure ongoing deep cleaning and sanitization of the entire community, with additional housekeeping staff in all areas of the building, and enhanced cleaning in high touch areas. We will continue to act upon the latest advice of public health officials and adapt our operations as necessary and recommended, to reduce the risk of infection and transmission as much as possible.

Communication

Please know that should the condition of any resident change, their family will be notified immediately.
