Dear family member and friends,

We have an important update from Maple Ridge Seniors Village.  The staff member that was experiencing symptoms has tested positive for COVID-19.  This staff member is at home and is isolating.

We have notified Fraser Health Authority, the BC health regulator who licenses us to provide the care that your loved one receives from us.  At this time we have not been declared in outbreak but have been instructed to initiate the outbreak protocols.  We are currently waiting for official direction from Public Health.

In the meantime the following protocols have been initiated:

• All residents on the 1^st and 3^rd floors in our Residential Care are isolating in their rooms.
• Our 2^nd floor in Residential Care is on “enhanced monitoring” but residents are not required to isolate in their rooms at this time.
• All staff are cohorting in their respective work areas/floors.
• All residents of Residential Care must remain on their home floor.
• All visits in Residential Care, including Essential Visitors, have been cancelled until further notice.
• All scheduled visitors and Essential Visitors of Independent/Assisted Living can continue to come on site, if they wish.
• Spouses living in Independent/Assisted Living cannot visit their spouse in Residential Care at this time.
• All group activities in Residential Care are on hold until we know more. We will revise our programming as appropriate to try to ensure your loved one still has some social stimulation through this period while we await further direction.
• Extra monitoring procedures have been put into place for our staff and residents.
• All floors in Residential Care have gone through additional sanitization.

Residents in our Independent/Assisted Living can continue their day to day routine as usual and have not been asked to remain on site at this time.  This may change with further direction from Public Health.

Communication

We will provide everyone with a daily email update and will share information as we receive it.  Should the condition of any resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

Meal Services 

The dining rooms on the 1^st and 3^rd floors in our Residential care are closed and residents are receiving room service.

The dining room on our 2^nd floor in Residential Care is open but they are using disposables.

The dining room in our Independent/Assisted Living remains open at this time.

Deliveries

Deliveries are still being accepted at the screener desk, however we ask that all non-essential deliveries for Residential Care be put on hold until further notice.  We will continue to accept all essential deliveries for Residential Care and all deliveries (essential and non-essential) for Independent/Assisted Living.

When dropping items off we ask families to please follow the guidelines below in order to ensure that your loved one gets their deliveries in a timely manner:

1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags
2. Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and room number
3. Please note if the package includes alcohol

All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

We wish to thank staff, residents and families for their cooperation and understanding as we move through the next few days.

Please know that the care and safety of residents is our number one priority, and that we treat this situation very seriously.
