Hello Everyone

We continue to appreciate all that you and your loved ones are doing to heed the precautions put in place to alleviate risk of exposure to COVID-19.

I am relieved to tell you that there are no cases of reported outbreak nor signs nor symptoms of COVID-19 in any of our residents or staff here at Maple Ridge Seniors’ Village.

As the Province begins the transition that will see some of the rules relaxed, a gentle reminder that we continue to follow the direction of our provincial Health Officer, Bonnie Henry, and our no visitor policy remains in place. We understand your eagerness to come and visit your loved ones but at this time our no visitor policy remains the same.

We continue to follow the direction of our public health officials to the letter and have full infection prevention and control precautions in place. Staff continue to monitor residents closely and are ensuring the following protocols are being adhered to.

Communication

Due to social distancing orders we are encouraging family members and loved ones to connect with your family member via telephone call, or FACETIME or SKYPE.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact Kim Knudsen, Manager of Recreation & Volunteer Services at kknudsen@retirementconcepts.com or call 604-476-4320.

Recreation

We continue to provide small group programs in AL/IL on a sign-up basis, and are happy to report that our Residential Care residents are enjoying daily programs as well.  As summer approaches and the weather gets nicer, we will be sure to get our residents outside for some much needed sunshine.

At this time, we are still unable to accommodate any outside visitors to our communities. This includes family, friends, volunteers and entertainers. We are working on how and when we are able to bring these back and information will be provided as soon as this changes.

It’s great to get back to small group programming, and our residents are definitely benefitting from the stimulation. Daily fitness/active play is our goal for the morning programs and we offer a variety of stimulating activities in the afternoon.

This weekend we celebrated Father’s Day with a special dinner and handed out treats!!

June 21st is the start of summer and we will make sure to get our residents out on nice days to enjoy fresh air.

Meals

For our meal services, we are still providing take-out service, which is running very well.  Almost all of our residents have been able to come down to get their meals at lunch and dinner.  We do have several residents whose mobility will not allow them do this, and for those residents, we are delivering right to their suites.  The residents have been wonderfully patient as we continue to request physical distancing during this service, and we have maintained that residents come down to the dining room area at specific times depending on what part of the building they reside in.

Our kitchen staff are continuing to offer choices in meal preferences, as we did previously when resident dined in prior to COVID-19.  If a resident is in isolation, we have been taking their meal order by phone, and delivering to their suite.  Everyone – staff and residents alike – are doing a fabulous job at keeping everyone safe.

We are placing floor markers and arranging staffing to ensure that when we do, we will be able to keep everyone at a safe social distance.

In the meantime, the dining room is closed, and tray service is being delivered to each suite.

General store

The General Store stocks basics such as milk, juice, cookies, ice cream, toilet paper, snacks, bread, jams & laundry detergent. We have continued to remain open for those in need (one hour per day Mon- Fri) with safety parameters in place. Daily enhanced cleaning, and only 1 customer in the store at a time. All must sanitize hands upon entry into the store. Residents have the option to pay by cash or charge it to their suites.

Questions about the General Store? Contact Kim Knudsen at kknudsen@retirementconcepts.com.

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the front desk. This includes groceries, medications, and gifts. All will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

Dropping items off: We would ask that families please follow these guidelines as I am sure you want your parent or loved one to get their deliveries in a timely manner.

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags
  2. Make sure to label all bags with resident name and room number
  3. Try to limit drop offs to essential items. There are days when staff are overwhelmed trying to keep up.

Stay Safe everyone,

Sincerely,

The MRSV Leadership Team
