Hello Everyone,

As we communicated yesterday, one case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in a staff member at Maple Ridge Seniors Village.  That staff member is home, in self-isolation and showing no symptoms.

No residents are symptomatic.  However, to be cautious as well as compliant with Fraser Health Authority Protocols, 1st and 3rd floor residents will be swabbed and isolated to their rooms where their meals are being provided.  When test results are known, we will share the information with families.

Please know that the care and safety of residents is our number one priority, and that we are treating the situation very seriously.  To that end, family visitations have been cancelled for the time being, and all group activities have been terminated.  Again, we would like to stress that this is the requirement of the Fraser Health Authority.  We must follow Fraser Health Authority Rules, Regulations and Protocols as they are the regulatory body that issues Maple Ridge Seniors Village the license to operate.

Communication

As a result of the one confirmed case of COVID-19, we will provide families with a daily email update.  Should the condition of any resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

Meal Services 

Our kitchen staff will continue to offer choices in meal preferences, as we did previously when resident dined in their rooms prior to COVID-19.  The dining room is closed, and tray service is being delivered to each suite.  This is the requirement of Fraser Health Authority.

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the front desk.  This includes groceries, medications and gifts. All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

When dropping items off:  We ask families to please follow the guidelines below in order to ensure that your parent or loved one gets their deliveries in a timely manner:

1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags;
2. Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and room number; and
3. Try to limit drop-offs to essential items. It is during a COVID-19 outbreak, that we experience the greatest reduction in staff.
