August 19, 2020

We are pleased to continue to report that as of this point – there are still no other reported cases of Covid-19 in Staff or Residents at Maple Ridge Seniors Village.

All Staff and Resident swabs that have come back so far, are Negative.

We continue to follow the Protocols and direction of our licensing body, the Fraser Health Authority, who has, out of an abundance of caution, decided to extend the Outbreak Period for a few more days.

With everyone’s continued support and diligence, we hope to be back to normal soon.

We know everyone is anxious to get back to being able to see their loved ones, and we are working hard to keep everyone safe and healthy so we can make that happen again!

As we communicated previously, one case of COVID-19 was confirmed in a staff member at Maple Ridge Seniors Village.  That staff member has been home, in self-isolation, and has now officially been given the all clear by Fraser Health Authority.

Family visitations remain cancelled for the time being, as are all group activities.

Again, we would like to stress that this is the requirement of the Fraser Health Authority.  We must follow Fraser Health Authority Rules, Regulations and Protocols.

As a result of the one confirmed case of COVID-19, we will continue to provide families with a daily email update.

We have also phoned all families twice.

Should the condition of any resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

Once we receive the “all clear” from the Health Authority, the email updates will return to a once weekly schedule.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact Kim Knudsen, Manager of Recreation & Volunteer Services at mailto: kknudsen@retirementconcepts.com or call 604-476-4320.

Meal Services

The requirement from Fraser Health Authority is for All dining rooms to remain closed.  This includes the second floor dining room.  We continue to provide in-room dining for all residents in Assisted living and Residential Care.  Independent Living residents are able to come down to pick up their meals.  Our kitchen staff will continue to offer choices in meal preferences, as we did previously when residents dined in their rooms prior to COVID-19.

All deliveries will be received at the front desk.  This includes groceries, medications and gifts. All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

When dropping items off, we ask families to please follow the guidelines below in order to ensure that your parent or loved one gets their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags;
  2. Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and room number; and
  3. Try to limit drop-offs to essential items.  It is during a COVID-19 outbreak, that we experience the greatest reduction in staff.

Outside Visits by Independent Living or Assisted Living Residents. – Essential Appointments only

Fraser Health Authority has asked us to inform Independent and Assisted Living residents and their families that if they are planning to depart the Facility for outside appointments, that they should advise those at the destinations in advance that they are coming from a site that is in Covid Outbreak Mode.

We wish to thank staff, residents and families for their continued support and words of encouragement!  Thank you to everyone.
