Hello Everyone,

We are in Day 3 of COVID OUTBREAK MODE at Maple Ridge Seniors Village, and continue to follow the Protocols of Fraser Health Authority, the BC health regulator who licenses us.

As we communicated previously, one case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in a staff member at Maple Ridge Seniors Village.  That staff member is home, in self-isolation and shows no symptoms.

Other staff members as well as Maple Ridge leadership, are in the process of being swabbed.

No residents have any Covid symptoms.  However, to be cautious as well as compliant with Fraser Health Authority Protocols, 1st and 3rd floor residents are being swabbed and isolated to their rooms where their meals are being provided.  When test results are known, we will share the information with the individual families.

Fraser Health Authority has also asked us to close our second floor dining room and to serve second floor residents meals in their rooms.

Please know that the care and safety of residents is our number one priority, and that we treat this situation very seriously.  To that end, family visitations have been cancelled for the time being, and all group activities have been terminated.  Again, we would like to stress that this is the requirement of the Fraser Health Authority.

Communication

As a result of the one confirmed case of COVID-19, we will provide families with a daily email update.  Should the condition of any resident change, their family will be notified immediately.

To inquire about facetime/skype or phone calls, please contact Kim Knudsen, Manager of Recreation & Volunteer Services at kknudsen@retirementconcepts.com or call 604-476-4320.

Meal Services

Our kitchen staff will continue to offer choices in meal preferences, as we did previously when resident dined in their rooms prior to COVID-19.  All dining rooms are closed, and tray service is being delivered to each suite.  This is the requirement of Fraser Health Authority.

Deliveries

All deliveries will be received at the front desk.  This includes groceries, medications and gifts. All items will be sanitized and delivered directly to the resident’s suites.

When dropping items off:  We ask families to please follow the guidelines below in order to ensure that your parent or loved one gets their deliveries in a timely manner:

  1. Please use plastic bags, no reusable bags;
  2. Make sure to label all bags with the resident’s name and room number; and
  3. Try to limit drop-offs to essential items.  It is during a COVID-19 outbreak, that we experience the greatest reduction in staff.

Outside Appointments for Independent Living or Assisted Living Residents. – ESSENTIAL ONLY

Fraser Health Authority has asked us to inform Independent and Assisted Living Residents and their families that if they are planning to depart the Facility for outside, essential only appointments that they should advise those at the destinations in advance that they are coming from a site that is in Covid Outbreak Mode.

Teamwork

We wish to thank staff, residents and families for their cooperation and understanding as we move through this period.

Sincerely, The Maple Ridge Seniors Village (MRSV) Leadership Team and Staff
