June 19, 2020
Greetings Friends & Families,
It looks like summer is finally making an attempt to join us in the Okanagan and it is a welcome distraction to what has been a troubling reality over the past few months. Let’s hope that plenty of warmth and sunshine usher in the much needed relief from some of the Covid-19 related restrictions that have prevented our community and so many others from enjoying a normal lifestyle.
As always, we appreciate your ongoing support and continued understanding for the strict guidelines mandated by the Health Authority. Presently there have been no changes in restrictions and site level procedures. We continue to follow these guidelines to the letter, as it is our best defence in staving off a virus that has wreaked such havoc in communities like ours on a global scale. We share your frustrations and are grateful for your efforts and subsequent success in keeping Summerland Seniors Village Covid-free – THANK YOU!
This Sunday is Father’s Day and although it cannot be filled with the simple pleasures normally associated with this special occasion, please know that we will do everything possible to be there for the fathers in our community as an extended family of sons and daughters working together to brighten up their special day. Cards will be delivered to all of our dads along with a special Father’s Day brunch complete with eggs, bacon, hash browns and heartwarming smiles – we can never replace you but we can and will be an extension of your love and respect for the men who built our communities. Kindly note that we still have some time slots available for Facetime and window visits on Father’s day and encourage you to take advantage of this by booking as soon as possible.
RECREATION
Our Recreation team continues to deliver, to the best of their ability, activities for our LTC residents and small group “Happy Hours” as well as Bingo for our IL/AL community. As the weather improves, we encourage residents to take advantage of our beautiful outdoor spaces and absorb the much needed vitamin D, courtesy of the Okanagan sunshine. Our garden plots are quickly transforming into natural pallets of brilliant colours and we welcome our residents to participate in nurturing these spaces.
General Store
The General Store remains open with distancing restrictions (1 person at a time) and a good selection of treats and necessities.
Meals
We are still waiting on permission to open our dining room and will announce this as soon as we receive a green light from the Health Authority.
Deliveries
All deliveries must come through the front entrance only and abide by guidelines set out in our previous communications. Once again, we remind folks to not leave deliveries on the carts provided after 4:30 PM.
Communication
As always, feel free to access the website for community updates on COVID related issues. To prevent the overwhelming of associated LTC staff members, we ask that you limit calls to twice per week and Facetime slots to once per week.
We appreciate your patience and remind all to remain calm and kind throughout the duration of this difficult time.
This will pass and until then, stay safe…
Please note; effective next week and for the duration of the summer months, we will be moving to a weekly family email update schedule.
Most Sincerely
Farid Nouisser
