Hello Everyone!

There continues to be a great deal of excitement and anticipation associated with having visits in our community –  but outside of the scheduled visits, please note that we continue to follow the direction of our provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, and our general NO VISITOR policy remains in place.

The Leadership Team/Emergency Response Team have been working collectively with the Health Authority and local OH&S on a safe plan to allow visits, and following is a list of important community considerations:

While we work through Stage 1 of our Visitation Plan, we are expecting to see up to 240 people entering our building over approx. 30 days, therefore we are proceeding very cautiously.  You, as family members play a key role in the success of this plan.  As we all work together toward successful visits, should any family member not adhere to the safety parameters that we have in place, you will be asked to leave.

Window Visits are continuing with the same following guidelines:

  1. Please plan visits with a limit of up to 6 people
  2. No open windows, please use telephones
  3. For all residents in Complex Care, window visits can still be safely scheduled and supported through the care staff.

Recreation Program

We are continuing to provide scheduled Skype visits for residents. Please reach out to Erica Buckingham, Recreation Manager by e-mail at ebuckingham@retirementconcepts.com or call 250.571.2958 to set up a time to Skype. We will be happy to confirm a date and time to connect you with your loved-one.

The Assisted/Independent Living tenants are very happy to have all amenities open again, of course with social distancing and attention to hand sanitizing.  The Hair Salon on the Assisted/Independent Living area of the building remains a very popular venue for the time being.

Dining Room

We are so pleased and the tenants are so happy to have the Assisted Living Dining Room open again for Lunch and Dinner with meals served at 12 and 1 pm and 5 and 6 pm with new physically distanced seating plans. More good news – the Bistro has opened for service again in the Bistro area with regular Barista service in place.

Deliveries and Drop-offs:

All deliveries will continue to be received at the front desk and will be sanitized, bagged and we will call the tenants to come and pick up their items right away.

Our General Store remains open and well stocked with items to meet the needs of our residents.

Kamloops Seniors Village has once again been nominated for the best Seniors Care Home in Kamloops through the Reader’s Choice Awards.  If you have a few minutes to spare and feel that KSV is a great place to live and/or work, I encourage you to vote for our home.  Remember, you are all a huge part of  what makes Kamloops Seniors Village such a great place and our tag line ‘So Nice to Come Home to’.  You can copy and paste this link into your search engine or ctrl enter on the link https://readerschoice.kamloopsthisweek.com/, go to Services, Seniors Home, Kamloops Seniors Village. You can vote daily, the only catch is voters must indicate a choice in at least 25 categories for their vote to be counted.  There are so many great categories to vote in, so I am sure there will be no concerns meeting that requirement.

Reminders for your loved one to Stay Safe:

Please help us by reminding each resident daily of the following four items:

  1. Practice social/physical distancing (6 feet apart)
  2. Perform proper Hand Hygiene (Wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with the alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and hot water) 20 seconds or greater is so important.
  3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  4. If exhibiting any symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing) please alert staff immediately.

We want to thank everyone for their cooperation and patience during these ever-changing circumstances.
