Dear Families,

We continue to appreciate all that you and your loved ones are doing to heed the precautions put in place to alleviate the risk of exposure to COVID-19. We can continue to confirm that there no cases among the staff and tenants.

As the Province begins the transition to Phase 2, we would like to remind you that we are continuing to follow the direction of our provincial Health Officer, Bonnie Henry and the public health officials. We understand your eagerness to come and visit your loved ones but at this time our no visitor policy remains in effect.

We are continuing to monitor our residents closely and are being diligent in our ongoing infection prevention and enhanced sanitization.

Recreation

The Recreation staff in Long Term Care staff are continuing to conduct 1:1 visits and activities. This could involve music, reading, discussing news, trivia, puzzles, tea/coffee social, crafts, card games etc.  They are also going room-to-room while using appropriate PPE to check on the residents and to drop off activities to keep resident minds sharp. Again, please remind and motivate your loved ones to participate in these different activities.

We are excited to announce the slow return of small group Recreation Activities in AL and IL.  We are happy to be able to gather again, but there are some very stringent parameters that must be in place to ensure each tenant and staff member is safe.

This week we had our first exercise class! The residents who were in attendance were so pleased to be doing some stretching and strengthening again!  Residents will be required to sign up for exercise class in advance and will be pre-screened prior to the class starting. Physical distancing and sanitization are in place during this program.

A big thank you to everyone for working so hard to keep Casa Loma and Comox Valley Seniors Village safe and healthy, as well as for the kindness, understanding and support you share.

Sincerely,

The Team at Casa Loma and Comox Valley Seniors Villages
