Welcome to our new Director of Care – Sandy Thomas
We are pleased to welcome Sandy to the role of Director of Care as of June 1st. Sandy comes to us with a wealth of experience in nursing and long-term care. Sandy graduated from a nursing degree in 2008, from India. He lived in Vancouver for a number of years, before moving to Prince George to work in a private care home and Northern Health Authority. He then took on the role of Clinical Practical Lead in the Northern Health Authority. Most recently he has been the Care Coordinator, managing Jubilee Lodge, in the Northern Health Authority. Sandy, his wife, Anita, and their 7 month old daughter, Eliswa, are looking forward to finding a new home here in the Comox Valley, and starting a new adventure, especially a large garden.
Removing Isolation Requirements for Residents Same Day Medical Appointments – Medical Health Officer
As of May 19th, we have implemented new guidelines for same day medical appointments. Residents will no longer be required to self-isolate after attending same day medical visits (planned appointments or emergency room visits). We continue to ensure that infection control procedures remain the same, i.e. comply with strict hand hygiene, wear a surgical mask during transport, be screened prior to trip and when returning.
We are pleased to continue to report that no staff or residents are presenting COVID-19 signs or symptoms at Casa Loma Seniors Village and Comox Seniors Village. Thank you for your continued adherence to our no visitor policy. All the updates are posted to our website for easy reference. Should the status of this community change in any respect, please know that we will immediately contact families.
Thank you for all your support and cooperation during this challenging time. It is so important for the residents, staff and for family and friends.
The Team at Comox Valley Seniors Village and Casa Loma
